MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT

This Memorandum of Agreement made and entered into by and between:

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS

The Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation, Inc. (CFIF), a non-stock non


profit organization created and existing under the laws of the Republic of the
Philippines, with principal address at North Road, Jagobiao, Mandaue City,
represented herein by MS. ANGELA PAULIN-FIGUEROA in his official
capacity as President of CFIF, herein after referred to as CFIF

And

The (Name of School), a private educational institution with principal


address of (Address of the Institution), represented by its (Designation of the
Official Representative/Signatory), (Name of the Official
Representative/Signatory) and hereinafter referred to as (Name of School).

WITNESSETH:

WHEREAS, CFIF is the leading industry association of the furniture &


Furnishings export industry in the Philippines;

WHEREAS, CFIF aims to improve the effectiveness of the furniture industry by


crafting a design and product development program for its members;

WHEREAS, CFIF aims to establish a strong network and linkage with existing
colleges training & academic institutions in the Philippines to match the needs
of the industry;

WHEREAS, CFIF intends to implement a Student Internship Program under its


Design and Product Development Program involving design students from
(Name of the School) and CFIF member companies, the aim of which is to train
and expose young designers to the requirements of the furniture and
furnishings industry by engaging them in actual work experience; to ensure the
quality of fresh, new designer entrants into the industry; and to strengthen
industry-academe linkage and collaboration

WHEREAS, (Name of the School) is an academic institution whose function is


to provide advanced instruction in (name of course);

WHEREAS, (Name of the School) is offering a formal course in Bachelor of


Science (Name of Course) to serve the design needs of the different industries
existing in the Philippines, one of which is the home furnishings industry

WHEREAS, (Name of the School) wants to strengthen its participation in the


development of design in the furniture and furnishings industry in general and
working with the CFIF member companies;

ARTICLE I: General Terms

I.1. The agreement covers the partnership between CFIF and (Name of
School) for the conduct of the Student Internship Program 2011

I.2. The agreement shall take effect upon signing of this agreement.

I.3. This partnership shall be primarily directed by the CFIF Design and
Product Development Committee. The committee shall be represented
by the Design and Product Development Committee Chair and the
Office Manager of CFIF.

ARTICLE II: Nature of the Collaboration

II. 1. The nature of the cooperation between and among CFIF and (Name of
School) shall be purely that of collaboration between these entities for
the purpose of implementing a Student Internship Program for the
Design and Product Development Program of CFIF;

II.2. To this end, CFIF and (Name of School) shall work closely together with
the following objectives:

II.2.1. To conduct the Student Internship Program for the Design and
Product Development Program of CFIF;

II.2.2 To ensure the quality of fresh, new designer entrants into


the furniture and furnishings industry;

II.2.3 To train and expose young designers of the requirements


of the furniture and furnishings industry by engaging them in
actual work experience;

II.2.4 To strengthen industry-academe linkage and collaboration

ARTICLE III: Role of (Name of School)

III.1 (Name of School) shall be responsible for the promotion of the


SIP to the students.

III.2 (Name of School) shall pre-orient the students of the mechanics


of the SIP before their first visit to the host company.
III.3 (Name of School) shall initially handle the mentoring of the
participating students to do creative designs for the company/s

III.4 (Name of School) shall ensure the quality and performance of the
student designers and monitor and guide the progress of the
participating student designers;

III.5 (Name of School) shall monitor the student’s actual participation
and performance in the SIP and see to it that the student
conforms to the agreement set in the SIP.
III.6 (Name of School) supervising faculty shall see to it that students’
product development activities shall be in line with the market
needs of the CFIF member companies to ensure that the design
is marketable to present and potential buyers.

III.7 (Name of School) shall pre-qualify the students who will
participate in the Student Internship Program.

ARTICLE IV: Role of CFIF

IV.1. CFIF shall be responsible for the overall management of the


program which includes coordination with all parties concerned;
and ensure successful implementation of the program;

IV.2. It shall promote the program to CFIF member companies and will
come up with participants to the program;

IV.3. It shall coordinate with (Name of School) on the needed logistical


and preliminary preparations for the conduct of the program;

IV.4. CFIF shall regularly monitor the over-all progress and


development of the program.
IV.5. CFIF shall facilitate the selection and pre-qualification of the host
companies who will participate in the SIP.
IV.6. CFIF shall see to it that all deliverables of the parties involved are
accomplished on time.
IV.7. CFIF shall see to it that students’ product development activities
should be in line with the market needs of the CFIF member
companies to ensure that the design is marketable to present and
potential buyers.
IV.8. CFIF shall properly acknowledge the student designer and his/her
school, and the company producing the prototype in the product
information indicated in the special setting.

IV.9. CFIF shall monitor the student’s, and (Name of School) actual
participation and performance in the SIP

IV.10. CFIF shall provide the Certificate of Participation to stakeholders


of the program.

ARTICLE V: Additional Provisions

When the need arises for the formulation of additional provisions, they may be
formulated upon mutual agreement of the parties concerned, and once signed,
such provisions become part of the Memorandum of Agreement.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have hereunto signed this Memorandum
