Band helps
you achieve!
By choosing to stay in Band during your
academic career, you would not only be
committing yourself to a fun, friend-filled
experience, but you would also be
preparing yourself for your future. In
band at Heritage Middle School and
Colleyville Heritage High School you will
find not only an inspiring activity, but also
a family unit who will always be there to
support you in every way.
As students become older and the
pressure of AP or college preparatory
courses grow, many believe that they
cannot be a member of the Band due to
academics and other activities. Here in
GCISD our band students are among the
most academically gifted and successful.
Approximately 99% of Band members
are in at least one AP course, while over
75% of Band members are in at least
three AP courses. Many members of the
Top 10 & Top 10% at CHHS are Band
members, more so than any other large
student organization on campus.

The band has a designated team that
sponsors academic tutorials each six weeks.
Additionally, incoming freshman have access

teacher's class. Grades are checked twice the seeds for a successful future

succeeding in their coursework and are

and CHHS bands take academics very
seriously and we are incredibly proud of our
students success outside of band!
For students who are interested in Band and
Athletics, the Band is willing to work with
your schedule in order to participate in all
that interests you. Each year we have Band
members who are also in football, volleyball,
cross-country, swimming, golf, basketball,
baseball, tennis, softball, soccer and track.
These members are equally committed to
both organizations and it is the goal of all
members and directors to make sure you
get the opportunities you deserve.

How did former HMS student balance being #1 in her

class and being an All-Region member of the band?

before school started. It has also really
helped me develop time management
skills. I honestly really enjoy band
because I'm able to spend a lot of time
with my friends who are in band!"
Currently, Alissa not only balances school and
band but she also is a member of the CHHS
Tennis program. Alissa says that she is able to
be successful in all activities because of how
she has learned to manage her time. Her
advice is to stick to a schedule and to not
forget to sleep!

towards a common goal! Participating in the band program, and
trying out for the all region process has given me a new
