ABSTRACT
High-rise buildings in Jakarta are mostly founded on deep alluvial deposits that have long site
(soil) period. When these building are shaken by far-field, large subduction source that capable of
generating M8.5 earthquake, resonance between the site (soil) and building period may occur and
this shall be anticipated in structure design. The site amplification at long period (T= 2-4 sec.) is
often not accounted in the coded-response spectrum that mostly derived from the crustal
earthquakes at relatively short distances. Site-specific seismic analyses (SSRA) provide inherent
information on site amplification for different building periods by utilizing good understanding in
the geo-seismic environment of the project site.

This paper discusses the procedure to develop the design surface response spectrum, from the
probabilistic seismic hazard analyses (PSHA), modeling of subsurface profile and site response
analyses to comply with the new SNI-1726-2012. The SSRA results of two distinct south and
north Jakarta sites are compared to the new SNI coded spectrum for SD (stiff soil) or SE (soft soil).
