I sent care packages overseas to military members as the chairperson of a project for my high school Key Club at a local senior center. As chairperson, I was responsible for shopping for supplies, ensuring the packages were sent out, and making sure volunteers helped assemble them. Through this project, I learned that I am good at problem-solving, time management, and taking responsibility. I also observed how a mentor from the senior center brought many volunteers together to contribute in various ways. This experience has helped prepare me for college and careers by demonstrating that I can handle problems that may arise in fields related to my diverse interests such as art, science, and event planning.

Class in which you did the project: Key Club at the senior center up on cherry creek Brief project description: Sent our overseas military care packages of anything they all asked for such as wipes, food, toothbrushes, etc. Your role for the project: I was the chairperson the one in charge What did you do, personally, to contribute to the overall project? Be specific! I went out shopping to get all the necessary items for the care packages, I made sure we were able to send the care packages out, and I made sure we had people to make the care packages. What did you learn about yourself in terms of time management, personal responsibility, problem-solving, collaboration, or other soft skills via this project? I learned that I am good at problem-solving, that I can manage my time well, and I can take responsibility pretty well. If you had an industry expert or mentor who assisted with this project, what are some things that you learned from this person? I learned how to bring so many people together to help in any way that they can. For this project, we had some help from the residents who wanted to help and they sat in stations and they put in specific products in the boxes of the care packages How has this experience helped prepare you for college or careers beyond high school? I am unsure of what career I want in the future considering that I am really good at so many things such as art, drama, dance, science, biology, planning events, and videography so this project has helped realize that I can handle a lot of problems that come from any job in those fields.
