ORAL PRODUCTION TASK INSTRUCTIONS

Work in pairs, plan, script and record a conversation for one of these situations:

Situation 1: You meet each other at a restaurant. Coincidentally, both of you have ordered the
same dishes and, since you are sitting next to each other at the counter, you fall into a
conversation. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not as good as you had expected.
Talk about:
 the bad experience you are having at the restaurant
 why you decided to eat there
 why you regret having decided to eat there
 what must, could, may have happened if you hadn’t deiced to eat there/if you weren’t
eating there now
 what you/the restaurant should/shouldn’t have done
 what you’ll do
End your conversation.

Situation 2: You are at Jorge Chávez Airport waiting for a flight to the USA. You do not know
each other. Neither of you is from Peru nor from the USA. Choose where you are from.
While at the airport, coincidentally, you are reading the same book. You have to wait for two
more hours because your plane is delayed. You start a conversation.
Do the following:
 Introduce each other.
 Keep the conversation going (Choose topics that are appropriate to discuss with
someone you have just met!).
 Talk about your experiences in Peru.
 Talk about embarrassing moments you have had when meeting/talking/living in Peru
because of cultural differences.
 Say what you regret doing now that you are leaving Peru .
 Say what you should or could have done.
It is time to board the plane so end your conversation.
