Standard 6

One of the building knowledge : issue areas that I decided to look into was “Child Care”.

This covered/ discussed the benefits given by a program called “CCDBG”, which stands

for The Child Care and Development Block Grant. This program was created in 1990

and then reauthorized in 2014. This program gives several opportunities for children

and families who utilize child care. Those goals include “​Protecting the health and

safety of children in care through more consistent standards and monitoring of

those standards, Allowing families to more easily access child care assistance

that supports stable and continuous child care,by increasing support for child

care providers, and targeting initiatives to help priority populations” (NAEYC). I

think that this opportunity is very resourceful for children and families. I believe

that this opportunity is helpful for children and families because through this

program, families are constantly updated on the health and wellbeing of the

environment that their children are in. Families are also informed of how the

educators are being benefited through this program as well. Through this

program, families are ensured that their children are receiving stable care. I think

that it’s amazing that Early Childhood Educators are receiving the same support.
