TED:

FASHION THAT CELEBRATE ALL BODY TYPES –

BOLDY AND UNAPOLOGETICALLY
1. How long?
6 minutes.
2. How many percent can I understand after one time listening?
85%.
3. Content:
- Fashion’s ideal look is unrealistic: tall, skinny, white…
- McCharen-Tran developed her own fashion brand to celebrate woman of all
shapes and sizes.
- She believes that clothes need to change, not the customers’ bodies.
4. What I learned/ I like best:
- McCharen-Tran mentioned how she casts not only different body types
models but also behind the scene staffs. I think this idea is a very powerful
move to get every type of bodies to be involve in the process, not just to
commercialized the products.
- After watching the video, I felt inspired by the work of McCharen-Tran to prove
that everybody is beautiful in their own way..
5. New words/phrases
- pored over (phrasal v.) to look at and study something, usually a book or
document, carefully.
Ex: Helen pored over book series about horses, her favorite animal.
- able-bodied (adj.) used to refer to someone who is healthy and has no
illness, injury, or condition that makes it difficult to do the things that other
people do.
Ex: You are lucky being born able-bodied, there are many suffering from
congenital diseases.
- holistically (adv.) in a way that deals with or treats the whole of something
or someone and not just a part.
Ex: The project need to be viewed holistically to be as perfect as possible.
