Summary for Week 9 MCC315D Oral Presentation (Myat Thu (32813747))

This summary will be explaining and elaborating about the research question, “How
do companies use social media to market their products?” Social Media is a computer-
mediated device that allows the user to connect with basic systems or societies. It is a
kind of Web 2.0 internet based applications and also a user generated content. The
findings on why most companies use social media are, it is free; meaning that it does
not have limited access for the audience to purchase on the site, wider range of
audience base as they promote their brands usually, receiving real-time feedback and
engagement based on the audience’s needs and wants, building business network to
cooperate with other companies and the most influential source for consumer
purchasing decisions. The benefits of social media marketing is that, it increases brand
exposure and traffic, developing brand loyalty, improving search ranking, growing
business partnership, improving sales, generating sales leads and reducing marketing
expenses. Based on the methodology of the research question, there were a total of
7.447 Billion People using Social Media according to this year. For the findings on the
research question, it has been found out that the companies, Johnson & Johnson
Singapore, Dove and Victoria’s Secret Companies use Twitter, Facebook and
Instagram as the Social Networking Sites. In conclusion, companies use numerous
social media platform in building up their brands. They tend to look for the platform that
suits their product the best. Social Media Marketing acts as key factors in helping to
promote the products.
