Term 3: Week 3, Day 2

 Good morning parents, boys and girls. I hope you all had a lovely weekend, despite the circumstances.
lt looks like we’ll be communicating from a distance for the rest of our school year. Please feel free to
communicate with me through this homework app, or by email, if you have any concerns or queries.
Summer is here, at least, and hopefully it will bring us seasonal weather to enjoy!

 Watch Cúla4 ar Scoil on TG4 at 10:00am -10:30am

 Watch RTE2 Home School Hub: 11am - 12noon. Today’s lesson for Second Class explores how poets
communicate with us in their writing through using comparisons or ‘similes’.
 P.E. and Skills with TJ Reid: Facebook, 12 – 1pm

 Spell Well: Week 33 pg. 68 Box 105 + Exercise p68 (A) pg. 69 (B).

 Let’s Talk Literacy: Plurals pg. 65 A and B.
Before completing ‘A’, please look at the following: Plurals-s-and-es-Teaching Powerpoint.ppt
If you’d like to try the Extension Activity at the bottom, remember that if a vowel ( a,e,i,o,u ) comes
before ‘y’, then you just add ‘s’,e.g. ‘donkey’ becomes ‘donkeys’.

 Tables: Please revise some of your Add 4 and Subtract 4 Tables in pairs, as you practised them last week
(0+4=4/4-4=0, 1+4=5/5-4=1, 2+4=6/6-4=2, 3+4=7/7-4=3, 4+4=8/8-4=4 ).
 Maths Time: Week 31 pg.62 Section (A)
 Busy at Maths: Pattern 2 pg. 124. Please do the whole page. Last Thursday’s RTE Hub was all about the
pattern making which you will be working on this week.
 Weight: www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/mostlyPostie/index.html Choose your level, drag the parcel
onto the scales and type in its weight. Good practice at using and reading a scales for baking! 1kg = 1000g.

 Bua na Cainte: Irish Spellings p.132. Box 1 and Exercise 1. The ‘ar’ family.
Ar = on. Orm = on me. Ort = on you. Air = on him. Uirthi = on her. Tá hata orm = I have a hat on me. Tá
cóta ort = You have a coat on you. Tá léine air = He has a shirt on him. Tá gúna uirthi = She has a dress on
her. A reminder to use www.forvo.com to help you with pronunciation.

 Poetry Reading: ‘The Time we Spring Cleaned the World’ attached. Please read the first 6 verses.
 Poetry Writing: During this week, I’d like you to have a go at writing a poem for all the people who are
working so hard in hospitals at this time. It can be a ‘Happy at Home’ poem, based on what brings you joy
at home. Or, you might like to write a ‘Thank You’ poem. If you email me your poem
(hazel@kilkennyschoolproject.ie), I’ll send it on its way to the hospital staff! If you have an even better
idea/title for your poem, please use that either.

 Remember: Daily Diary, Life Skills and Read for Pleasure –everyday, if you can.

 Keep safe!

Dear Parents, do only what you can!
