DIVERSION 21 HOTEL- DIVERSION ROAD

MANDURRIAO, ILOILO CITY

INTRODUCTION

Internship or on the job training is one way by which we students are given an

opportunity to apply the theories and computations that we have learned from school. It also

helps us to obtain applicable knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting.

Colleges and universities require their students to undergo such training within a specific

number of hours as part of the curriculum

For us students, an OJT or internship program provides opportunities to go through

the actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipments, and documents. In

effect, the work place becomes a development venue for us student trainee to learn more

about our chosen field and practice what we have learn from academy.

On the other hand, a valuable OJT program also profits the companies who accept

trainees. First OJT or intern provides extra manpower for a less significant labor cost than a

regular employee. Most of them are all eager to learn the ropes so chances are high that

they’ll be given a chance to work on the same company as an employee after graduating.

Employers can use this internship strategy as method in recruiting employees. Since the

trainer or supervisor can follow the trainees’ progress, he can gauge based on performance,

behavior and attitude if the trainee will make good recruit after the completion of his

internship.

We trainees can bring fresh ideas into the organization. Given the opportunity to

converse our minds freely and without fear, we may be able to contribute significantly in

brainstorming sessions or research and eventually help improve the organizations

productivity.
DIVERSION 21 HOTEL
HISTORY

Diversion 21 Hotel is owned and managed by Iloilo 21 Hotels, Inc. and is

strategically located at Diversion Road, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. It started its operation on

June 2013 and has been continuously catering to patrons since then. The eight-floor main

Hotel houses eighty four (84) fully furnished rooms, forty two (42) of which are matrimonial

rooms, eighteen(18) contains twin beds, eighteen(18) are for triple and six (6) prime rooms

including executive and presidential rooms. The hotel rooms’ interiors are dominantly white

with an occasional splash of colors complimented with wood tones providing a modern and

ambiance feel to the room. The new annex Hotel, which started June 2016, houses forty four

(44) fully furnished rooms, twelve (12) matrimonial rooms, twelve (12) twin beds, ten (10)

triple and ten (10) double queen rooms perfectly designed for families. This new hotel wing

gives a classic brown interior touched with high class wood arts for a modernized

atmosphere.

The Diversion 21 Hotel also provides function rooms and amenities for parties,

seminars, trainings, and all other special occasions which require private venues. The five (5)

fully operational function rooms are located at the second level of the main hotel and each of

the said function room can accommodate an average of forty (40) guests. The color scheme

inside the function rooms is consistent to the modern atmosphere of the whole hotel making it

the perfect choice for all types of gathering.

Beside the Diversion 21 Hotel Main Building is the four-floor Anne Margaret

Building which contains the parking space on its first floor and Premier Function Rooms on

the second floor, while the third floor houses the Anne Margaret Ballroom. The Ballroom can

accommodate up to four hundred fifty (450) guests and is most appropriate for debuts,

weddings, and large seminars/ trainings. Diversion 21 Hotel is owned and managed by Iloilo

Daily Activity:
March 19, 2020

This our orientation day. We discuss All about Diversion 21 Hotel. They aslo discuss

the backgroud and history of the hotel. They told us the the Vision and Mission, the rules and

regulation as a trainee. They also discuss the different phases of each department, they

introduce to us their staffs. I was amazed because they are very approachable. So this is it,

tomorrow will be the fisrt duty as a trainee.

March 20, 2020 - Day 1

I started my On-The-Job Training at Diversion 21 Hotel in Housekeeping

Department. Since this is not my first time to do housekeeping, so it was easy for me to do

my task. But this is my first time in Diversion 21 Hotel I felt excited and a little bit nervous

because of the new environment and new people sorrounding me. Our supervisor showed us

the different rooms and ammenities of the hotel, so that we can start our task. My task in my

first day was to make up the room, i was shocked because the room was messy, but i have my

co-trainee to make up room. We use vacuum cleaner, we fixed the bed, we arranged the

different kind of things and lastly we cleaned bathroom.

March 21, 2020 - Day 2

2nd day of my duty. I was assigned in room same thing what I did yesterday. We

need to clean up the room because it was already checked out last two hours. First thing I was

to do remove all the linen from the bed and then change it into clean and fresh linen, then

vacuum the carpet. My co-trainee was assigned at the bathroom. We finished our task as fast

as we can because we cooperate each other.

March 22, 2020 - Day 3


I was assigned in the presidential room together with my Room Attendant. I was

shocked because it was very big and nice room. We make up the room. We vacuum the

carpet, fixed the bed and got the garbage in the floor.

March 23, 2020 - Day 4

I was also assigned in a different room. I have 4 rooms checked out that I already

fixed in my entire day, together with my Room Attendant and co-trainee.

March 24, 2020 - Day 5

In my 5th day, I was assigned in the stocked room or linen area, because there's only

a few guest who scheduled to make up room ang check out that time, so I was assigned at

linen area. I arranged all the linen, I segregate the linen in their perspective area.

March 25, 2020 - Day 6

I was assigned as the same room but in the bathroom area. My Room Attendant told

me that you need to get first the hair fall by using a tissue paper. After that I deep cleaned the

all parts and sides of the bathroom.

March 26, 2020 - Day 7

I was assigned in the same room. I have 5 rooms that I already fixed. 3 make up

room and 2 check out.

March 27, 2020 - Day 8


8th day as a trainee. It was my first day off, but I didn’t take a day off because I just

wanted to finished my training as early as I can. Same room and same task by make up the

room and fixed the check out.

March 28, 2020 - Day 9

I was very tired because all rooms that we need to fixed was 5 rooms check out. My

Room Attendant decided to divide us into two members each room. So that we can fixed it

early.

March 29, 2020 - Day 10

This is my second Saturday of my duty. I was assigned in the same room, arranged

the things of the guest, fixed the bed and clean the bathroom.

March 30, 2020 - Day 11

I was assigned in the hallway. First step that I did was sweeping the floor then after

that I mopped hard floor, I also emplying trash receptacles and disposing of waste.

March 31, 2020 - Day 12

I was assigned at the bathroom. I got the all garbage inside the Bathroom and put it

away. I cleaned and sanitized toilet, shower/bathtubs, countertops, and sink. After that I

putting all the supplies inside the bathroom like clean linen and toiletries.

April 01, 2020 - Day 13


First day of the month of April. My task is to make up the room. I

sweeping/vacuuming, polishing and mopping hard floors then dusting and polishing

furnitures and fixtures.

April 02, 2020 - Day 14

It was my birthday but my task must go on. My task was make up the room. I fixed

the bed and changing linens, then cleaning mirrors and other glass surfaces.

April 03, 2020 - Day 15

My Room Attendant asked me to go in the linen room to get all the needed in the

beedings. She gave me the list of needed. Such as, 3 sheet sets, 2 duvet covers, duvet insert, 4

standard size, pillow for sleeping, 1 down comforter, 1 mattress pad, 1 throw and 2+ throw

pillow, and after that I'll gave it to her.

April 04, 2020 - Day 16

I was assigned at the linen area. I was folding linen supplies such as, pillow case,

towel, duvet, comforter, hand towel and many more.

April 05, 2020 - Day 17

I was assigned as the same room. As usual same task. 2 check out room and 1 make

up room, together with my co-trainee.

April 06, 2020 - Day 18

I was happy because 5 days left of my duty. I was vacuuming the carpet, mopping

hard floors, dusting and polishing furnitures and fixtures.


April 07, 2020 - Day 19

Same task and same room. I was assigned at the bathroon. I was cleaned and

sanitized toilet, cleaned bathtubs, shower and sink.

April 08, 2020 - Day 20

In the morning I was mopped the entire hallway at the same time the upstair. In the

afternoon I was make up the room, set the beddings and cleaned the whole room.

April 09, 2020 - Day 21

2 days left. I was alternate the different linen in their perspective area, by folding it

wisely.

April 10, 2020 - Day 22

I was assigned to make up the room. I arranged the things of the guest, dusting,

mopping the hard floor and fixed the bed.

April 11, 2020 -Day 23

My last day at Diversion 21 Hotel as trainee. I was learned a lot specially in

housekeeping departnent. To end my 180 hours in my OJT I was continue my task. I was

vacuuming the carpet dusting, changed the beddings, cleaned the bathroom and polishing the

furnitures and fixtures.

CONCLUSION
The On-The-Job training is the best way to learn the housekeeping operation in a

hotel. As a trainee I have learned the standard operating procedure, the work tasks, the

responsibilities as a hotel trainee and as a part to undertake work efficiently and effectively.

Learning outside the corners of a room made me as a trainee learn more of the

housekeeping department, its function, the personnels behind it and how to become an

effective hotel employee.

The experience I had enhanced my knowledge of the housekeeping operation and

experiencing it personally. I have experienced to be part of the largest work force in every

hotel establishment----the housekeeping department.


RECOMMENDATION

As a trainee I highly recommend the Diversion 21 Hotel because it offers skills

certification program that aims to teach the trainees all the necessary information about the

housekeeping before they are deployed as trainees in the hotel.

The Diversion 21 Hotel a great training establishment because the hotel has the

facilities and personnel’s that are willing to teach students all about the housekeeping

department. Have the initiative to be a part of the growth and success of the hotel as to what

the previous trainees had.
