Volunteer Work

- E DGE TEACHER AT ST. THOMAS A QUINAS P ARISH (2016-P RESENT)

o During my freshman and sophomore year of college, I had the privilege to volunteer as
an EDG teacher which stands for Evangelism, Discipleship, Growth, and Encouragement.
My first year I taught first graders and kindergartners about the Catholic faith and how
to make the proper sign of the cross. Then I switched to middle school my second year
and taught 6th grade girls. We discussed the importance of prayer and talked about how
we can better fit prayer into our lives. This program lasts an hour and is on every
Wednesday night. To this day, I continue to volunteer and fill in for EDGE teachers. This
volunteer opportunity has made me become a much stronger person and has given me
the chance to meet wonderful kids.
- COOKIE UNIVERSITY VOLUNTEER (2019)
o During my junior year of college, I helped with the cookie university in which girl scouts
from around South Dakota came to Dakota State University to learn life skills and
participate in activities. I helped teach a lesson and helped with set up. This allowed me
to meet new people and practice my teaching skills.
