What are the objectives of the environmental indicators?

The objective of the environmental indicators come hand in hand with some general
characteristics: Quantify the Information (apparent significance), Simplify the information
(improve communication) Even the indicators are presented in statistical or graphical form,
these are different depending on the information obtained.

What is the importance of environmental indicators?

Nowadays it is very important to set up a system of environmental indicators for any entity,
at the industrial level, it is an aspect that is already taken into account, both economically
and organizationally, since, among others, the legislation is increasingly strict and the
consequences of non-compliance can become sanctions and a discredit for companies.

How to use environmental indicators in the professional field?

The environmental indicators can refer to different departments and, consequently, can be
obtained from data from the entire company, from individual plants or work centers, and
from specific departments or production processes. Therefore, they can be divided into
company, work center and process indicators.

The indicators determined at the lowest level of the organization (production process) are
appropriate as planning, control and supervision instruments for the department in
question. In order to detect weak points and quickly initiate corrective actions, it is
advisable to determine them at shorter intervals (eg quarterly, monthly, or weekly).
