Gas Field Policy September 2008

Gas Field Policy 15: Air or Nitrogen Service

The following criteria must be met before a gas field compressor can be offered for air or nitrogen service:

1. All applications must fall within guidelines specified by GFP-2.

2. All air applications must be lubricated with synthetic oil. This may require distance pieces (A, B, C-
VIP) or extra long distance pieces to allow for an oil slinger since synthetic oil is not compatible
with mineral oil and must be kept from migrating into the frame.

3. Cylinders must be water cooled when predicted (DR Size) discharge temps. exceed 275°F
(adiabatic) or 300°F (predicted actual).

4. The suction and discharge valves must have Hi-Temp non-metallic or steel plates.

5. For air applications with discharge pressures exceeding 2000 psig, consult Dresser-Rand Gas
Field Product Marketing.

6. Packing rings must be filled teflon for discharge pressures up to 2000 psig. Above 2000 psig,
Marketing must approve.

7. Air filters must have a minimum reserve of 15 percent over the maximum flow requirement.

7. All sizing and performance must be reviewed and approved by Dresser-Rand Gas Field
Product Marketing, prior to quoting.
