Teen Suicide
Today’s teenagers face a variety of pressures and challenges that may find
insurmountable. Too often, they conclude that trying to overcome them is not worth it-or that
it is possible to do so- and they decide to commit suicide. While various suggestions for
preventing this tragedy have been forward, some of the most popular have little chance for
success. As this paper will demonstrate, focusing attention on the problems facing gay and
lesbian students offers the best opportunity of helping the greatest number of youths survive
the difficult years of adolescence.
