his high school years.

the University of the Philippines Diliman. 
He  later  on  received  a  Rockfeller  Grant  and 
became  a  fellow  in  creative writing  the  University 
of  Iowa  and  Bread  loaf's  writers  conference  from 
1956- 1957.
