Academic Collaborations
Semester Exchange Program with Dauphine University, Paris
Paris-Dauphine is the French selective university in Organization
sciences, including Management, Economics, Law, Political Sciences,
Mathematics and Computer Sciences. It offers multidisciplinary
programs in French and English from Bachelor to PhD with
small-group and teamwork pedagogy, trained by highly qualified
researchers and professionals. Located in the heart of Paris, Paris Dauphine offers a vibrant
student life with all sports, library and events facilities. Under this program, the selected students
spend one full semester in Dauphine University Paris France. The study involves a mixture of
knowledge-based learning through classroom sessions and skills-based learning through projects
and group assignments.

Berlin School of Economics and Law [BSEL]


With approximately 10,000 students, the Berlin
School of Economics and Law (BSEL) is one
of the largest institutions of higher education in
Germany’s capital city. The BSEL is distinguished
by a clear focus on providing academic education
strongly linked to real world skills, an intensive and diverse programme of research, high quality
standards and a strong international approach. The University’s portfolio of programmes covers
private and public sector business and economics, administration, law, security management
and engineering.
In the year 2011, SIIB started a credit exchange program with BSEL, Germany with an objective
to add the dimension of Consulting in the international context to the existing MBA program in
International business. Under this program, the selected students study their 1st year at BSEL,
Germany and the 2nd year at SIIB, India and get two prestigious Masters’ degrees in two years
- MBA – International Business from SIIB, India and MA – International Business & Consulting
[International Strategic Management] from BSEL, Germany.

Sheffield Hallam University


Being one of the UK’s most progressive and innovative universities,
Sheffield Hallam is a multicultural institution with a vibrant and diverse
student population consisting of over 4,000 international students from
120 different countries. The Sheffield Hallam University, located in the city
of Sheffield, is the fourth largest in the UK with more than 33,000 students,
4,360 staff and 572 courses. In the year 2011, SIIB started a semester
exchange program with Sheffield Hallam University, UK, with an objective to add an international
dimension to the MBA – International Business program. Under this program, the selected
students spend one full semester in a Master’s degree program at Sheffield Hallam University,
UK. The study involves a mixture of knowledge-based learning through classroom sessions
and skills-based learning through projects and group assignments. This semester exchange
program gives international exposure to the students and equips them to face the world as future
global managers.

Flensburg University of Applied Sciences
The Flensburg University of Applied Sciences is one of
Germany’s leading universities offering a wide range of Bachelors’
and Masters’ level programs. Currently, there are about 4,200 students
enrolled in degree programmes mainly focussed on engineering and
economics. Its rich experience of more than 20 years in international
relations and exchange programmes benefits students and gives
them an opportunity to broaden their horizons and improve their
foreign language skills during their studies. 
In the year 2014, SIIB started a semester exchange program with Flensburg University of Applied
Sciences, Germany. Under this program, the selected students spend one full semester in Flensburg
University, Germany.

Hochschule Bremen, University of Applied Sciences


The one-month summer school at Hochschule Bremen,
University of Applied Sciences, Germany is an annual program.
This Summer School is a structured academic activity.
In addition to the lectures and intensive course work, students
are taken on a guided historical and cultural tour of the town
center and cathedral. Visits to industries like Ospig Textil Logistik
GmbH, Volkswagen Autostadt, Beck’s Brewery, Mercedes Benz
plant, Eurogate Container Terminal, Airbus, Daimler Chrysler and Bremen Cotton Exchange are
complemented with visits to the Bremen Industrial Harbour and the World Trade Centre. Being an
International Business Institute, this program is extremely beneficial to the students, as they get a
chance to have a first-hand experience of global trade practices during their visit.

LISBON School of economics and management - Portugal


ISEG was the first school of economics and management
to be founded in Portugal. The school is part of the University
of Lisbon, the largest of the Portuguese universities.
Well-recognised nationally, ISEG is likewise establishing itself as
a respected international name.
ISEG and Symbiosis International (Deemed University) share
common interests and objectives in academic and cultural

Federation of Indian Exporters (FIEO)
Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), in collaboration with the
Federal Institute of Exports Organization (FIEO), Mumbai (set up by The Ministry
of Commerce and industry. Government of India) offers a Post Graduate
Diploma in Foreign Trade (PGDFT). The course focuses on a specialized training
program to build and care to the needs of the industry by blending academic
and industrial inputs in the pedagogy. By combining the management and foreign trade expertise of
the two organizations, the course intends to shape the human resource of the country for “Make in
India” campaign. This unique alliance between government, industry and academia tries to shape
and bridge the gaps in the industry for sustenance of business.

Sustainable Communities (ISC). A global
Training Institute working on Sustainability
with offices in US and China has recently
set up an EHS+ Center at SIIB aimed at conducting quality training program in EHS related
disciplines. The SIIB-lSC training program seeks to build capacity of middle and senior level
managers particularly in manufacturing and its supply chain partners in and around Pune focusing
on Environment, Health and Safety related standards and processes through customized program.

AGRI BUSINESS
MBA in Agri Business began with an intent to cater to the needs of one and all
involved in agriculture by providing them with a much-needed platform. The
program focuses on areas such as Agri-input Marketing, Commodity Trading,
Agricultural Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management, Micro
Finance and Agricultural Finance etc. The curriculum of Agri Business tries to

MBA in International Business. It is an intensive two - years residential post-graduate degree
program specifically designed for a rewarding career in global business management.
MBA in Marketing has become one of the most desired degrees by both students and employees
in recent years. With the shift to digital and online marketing, most businesses have their own
in-house marketing teams that specialize in bringing traffic and customers to the company.
Finance is an integral part of SIIB management course offering fundamental education. ln finance
related aspects and courses like Quantitative Techniques. Investment Banking, Retail and
Commercial Banking, M&A, Corporate Finance, International Financial Management and other
related areas.
Supply Chain Management module is designed to understand the levels involved in bringing
a manufactured product to the right channel with concepts such as purchasing management
and inventory management being covered in depth, students are fully equipped to tackle the
complexities of supply and demand chain.
HR remains a rewarding yet occasionally thankless career. MBA in HRM aims to provide you with
thorough grounding in HR management via integrating the main functional areas through the

Batch Profile Supply Chain
Supply Chain Management at SIIB is a multidisciplinary program developed to equip the students
with tools to conceive innovative strategies in Supply Chain and Operations Management. The
course is fantastically supported by simulations like the Beer Game, Six Sigma training and a
student driven SCM event called “Aarohan”.
At SIIB, students learn both the theory and practical implications of a subject by solving case
studies as part of the course. In the third semester, the students are acquainted with the
corporate environment through their summer internship and from the lectures rendered by the
visiting faculties with years of relevant industrial experience. The students voluntarily undergo
certifications like SCM - EXE provided by CII and CSCP, CPIM, etc. awarded by APICS.
Outside the classroom, students sharpen their management skills by participating in In-house
and Inter - College management competitions. The flagship event of SHE, Ignisense has an
exclusive event “OPlUM”, addressing Supply Chain Management; Where management students
from all over lndia compete to claim the best Operations Manager title.

Batch Profile Agri Business Management
Agriculture has long been seen as a sector with tremendous potential in India. In the last few
years the sector has seen an unprecedented gain with several government and private sector
initiative. This invites a tremendous need for professional courses in Agri business Management.
The Agri business program is thus, a response to this growing need for professionals, who can
contribute to engineer the Agri business revolution. The program is being preferred by young
entrepreneurs who see the potential and growth in Agri business.
There has been substantial value addition in Agri products, standardization of the value chain,
a growing interest of the private sector in the primary sector, integration of agriculture with the
Input supply industry as well as with processing, distribution and marketing. In fact, this area is
booming and offering good opportunities for management professionals. Agri business explores
production, marketing and trading of products related to agriculture and critical management
issues such as financing and technical assistance, preparation of products for exports, overseas
marketing issues and government policy.
At SIIB, the program broadly covers Rural Marketing, Retail Management, Micro finance,
Commodity Trading, WTO, Agri import and Export, Lending and Risk Management, Supply Chain

academic and co-curricular achievements.

Events & Conclaves

HR Conclave
SIIB witnessed the fourth edition of its HR conclave, with the theme ‘Transformational HR’.
This was followed by a talk on changing the mind-set of the people in an organization,
by Ms Anu Sethi, DGM, HR, FEV. Her talk focussed on the roles that HR plays in changing
the thought process and outlook of an organization. The next speaker was Mr. Bala
Aiyaswamy, VP, Head – Talent Management, Reliance Industries Limited, he gave a talk
about the digitalization era in HR, and how it helps HR evolve and extend the role of human
resources from cost to value. Next, the students heard a talk from Mr Shalin Kadikar,
Head – Learning and Development, Audi (Volkswagen) his talk focussed on the changing
practices in HR, and how prepared HR was to deal with the changes the 2025 revolution in
technology was bringing.

FinEquity
SIIB’s annual Finance conclave ‘Finanza’ for 2018 was held on 25th August by the FinEquity
club. The topic of discussion for this year was ‘Compounding Wealth, Discounting Risk’.
Eminent business personnel, Mr. Adithya Bhat, Partner, KPMG; Mr. Amol Padhye, Head of
Market Risk, HDFC Bank; Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Sr. Vice President, Wells Fargo; Mr. Gautam
Prasad, Managing Director, Audatex Solutions and Mr. Parag Deshpande, Vice President,
American Express Business Solutions were the honourable speakers for the occasion.

Markadiction
The Marketing club of SIIB, Markadiction, organized the annual Marketing conclave
‘Marketing 3.0’ on 22nd September 2018. This year’s theme was ‘Digitalization of Marketing’.
Mr. Dhaval Thanki, Business Development Director, Cartesian Consulting; Mr. Mohan
Simham, Head of Consumer IoT, Vodafone; Mr. Soham Wagh, Senior Marketing Manager,
GSK; Mr. VR Rajesh, Sr. VP & Managing Partner, Ogilvy and Mather and Mr. K Vaitheeswaran,
Ex-Advisor, Deloitte and Diageo were the honourable speakers for this occasion

AAROHAN
SIIB’s 6th Annual Supply Chain Management Conclave, Aarohan 2018, was held on
11th August, 2018 with much fervour and enthusiasm. This year’s theme for the conclave
was ‘Technological Headways and Disruptions in Supply Chain Management’. Eminent
industry stalwarts - Mr. Sahil Verma, Head of Demand Planning at Dabur India; Mr. Pravin
Rane, Deputy Director of Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Mr. Vinay Kumar
Srivastava, Head of Procurement at Blue Dart Express Limited; Mr. Amartya Guha,
Associate Director-Supply Chain for Flipkart; were the keynote speakers for the occasion.

Agri Summit
The flagship event by the students of MBA - Agribusiness at Symbiosis Institute of
International Business was conducted as a two-day event, on 14th and 15th of September
2018. On the first day, the students had the competition ‘Kritansh’, which was an event for
best manager. The winner was decided after a series of debates, quizzes and interviews.
On the second day of the event, the students got an opportunity to listen to the esteemed
speakers from various industries - Mr. Subbarao Appemane, Senior VP – Mahyco,
Mr. Vijaykumar Chole, VP – BVG; Mr. Deven, Dr. Gupta, Director – ECOZEN Solutions;
Mr. Anupam Satpathy, Marketing Head – Mahindra Group; Mr. Bakul Joshi, Brand
Protection Leader – FMC Corporation; Mr. Desh Ratna, President – Cadila Agro; Dr. Sudhir
Kumar Goel, Ex-ACS, Maharashtra; Mr. Jitendra Singhal, GM – Godrej Agrovet Ltd.

ENECON’18
ENECON’18, the flagship event of MBA Energy and Environment, successfully concluded
its fourth chapter which was an amalgamation of industry and the scholarly community.
The theme of this year’s conclave was “Think. Adapt. Sustain.” based on Sustainable
Development Goals of United Nations Development Programme. The conclave saw a
huge participation from industry experts as well as students and faculty across various
colleges in Pune. Illustrious business personnel, Mr. Sharad Kalghatgi, India HSE, and
Sustainability Lead, Mondelez International; Mr. Arvind Bodhankar, Corporate head – HSE
& Sustainability, Tata Motors; Brig. YVR Vijay, COO- OMS, Suzlon; Mr. Rajat Malhotra,
COO, IFM West Asia, JLL and Mr. Somasundaram R, Head Strategic Initiatives Mytrah
Energy were the honourable speakers for the occasion.

Leadership Series
Leadership Series 2018 was held successfully on 27th October,2018 at the auditorium of
Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Pune. The theme for this event was “Europe:
The Way Ahead”. The theme has gained an increased consensus all around the globe
due to various international aspects like Eurozone crisis, Brexit etc. The Keynote Speaker,
Dr.Prince Augustin, EVP- Group Human Capital and Leadership Development, Mahindra
& Mahindra; Mr. Ranjan Mathai, Former Foreign Secretary, Govt. of India discussed
about the point of view of Europe in terms of “Europe: The Way Ahead”; Chief Guest
for the event, Dr.Juergen Morhard, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany,
addressed the gathering about the experiences at the border of France.

Anusmruti
The annual alumni reunion was organized by the SIIB Alumni Relations Team on 5th
January, 2019. The event marked the homecoming for the all the alumni as they revived
the old bonds, reconnected with their friends and returned to their Alma Mater. The event
commenced with a lively informal interaction wherein 4 of our esteemed alumni namely,
Mr. Chetan Wangnoo, batch of 1997-99, Director at Wang Professionals Private Ltd,
Mr. Sudev Rao, batch of 1997-99, Vice President Operations, Accenture, Ms. Dechen
Mohanty, batch of 2007-09, Senior HR Generalist, Novozymes India and Ms. Nilisha
Ferrao, batch of 2007-09, Founder and Partner, ZestVida Natural Solutions had a panel
discussion. The alumni shared anecdotes from their time at SIIB and the students sought
their guidance about the do’s and don’ts of the professional world.

MYTRAH Talk
Symbiosis institute of International Business was proud to host Mytrah talks – a PAN India
event by Mytrah energy focusing on switching to a sustainable future on 13th October,
Saturday at SIIB auditorium. The event was headlined by Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, innovator
and education reformist in India followed by other eminent guests- Mr. R Somasundaram,
Head-Strategic Initiatives, Mytrah Energy, Ms. Swati Suman, founder of PETTSI, Mr.
Chandan Gadgil, Honorary Advisor of Renewable Energy at BAIF Research Foundation
and Mr. Chhris Rosario, Trustee of ARTS Alive Foundation.

DRISHYAM - THEATRE SOCIETY OF SIIB

Drishyam- The theatre society of SIIB gives you a platform


to showcase your skills in the arena of acting, scriptwriting,
directing, music, lighting, videography and photography.
After weaving all these components in proper synch the team
performs various stage play, street plays, mono acts at various
inter and intra college events.

iBEATS - DANCE TROUPE OF SIIB

The in-house dance troupe of SIIB is iBeats, an energetic


team who are forever ready to shake a leg to every beat. They
mesmerize the crowd with vibrant performances for Ignisense,
Anusmruti and various other intra and inter college events.
Each of them has their forte in different genres and styles of
dance, which collectively makes up a beautiful show of art.

KSHITIJ - ISR OF SIIB

At Symbiosis Institute International Business, we believe we


exist to care for the world we share and serve. In fact, serving
the society has been an integral part of all the Symbiosis
Institutes. We believe that instilling a sense of Corporate Social
Responsibility in our future global leaders is an essential step
in understanding the role of the corporates contributing to the
society. It is not only to inculcate these values but also to give
a direction to the emerging managers to understand the real
voyage of life. Thus, realizing its importance, Dr. Rajani Gupte,
Ex-Director SIIB enthused students to lead this change and
thus Kshitij was born.

SPARSH - STUDENT ACTIVITY COMMITTEE OF SIIB

SPARSH, the Students’ Activity Committee of Symbiosis


Institute of International Business (SIIB) is a student driven
initiative which aims at developing the expertise of the students
on current affairs as well as on academia particularly through
the weekly Quizzes floated
to them. The committee
also organises debates,
management competitions,
intra-institute quizzes and
other related events at
SIIB. The motive of running
the committee is to create
an environment for the
students which can foster
their growth of academic
and professional life, at the
same time to develop their
sound mental health by
engaging them into various
activities.

The placement committee is a student driven committee responsible for placements and
corporate relations of the institute. The placement committee builds a relationship with the
corporates on various fronts including interactive sessions, guest lectures, LIVE projects and
corporate consulting. This committee acts as a bridge between the fresh and enthusiastic
talent and the opportunity awaiting them. The team works assiduously and helps students get
the right platform to launch their professional careers. The committee consists of members,
representatives of each programme - IB, AB and E&E each year. The committee members
are mentored and guided by the Director herself.
