1.

Look for one academic paper, engineering report or thesis describing a fatigue analysis
performed with FEA. Share your proposal with your professor in order to validate it complies
with all requirements and to avoid projects topic repetition.

2. The document should include: – Geometry description, at least enough information to

design the component or system assuming certain features – Material properties, or grade
which allows to find the properties in another source. Specifically, prefer those cases with
the fatigue properties applied to the model – Loads, including value, direction, point of
application and fluctuating mode – Boundary conditions – Stress results – Life results

3. Replicate the simulation, using Autodesk Inventor Nastran or any other software with
Fatigue capabilities.

4. Report your results in one engineering report including: – Introduction – Procedure –

Results – Conclusion

1. Prepare the static analysis according to the document information

2. Validate your stress results
3. To create the fatigue analysis:
a) Duplicate the static analysis
b) Change the analysis type to Multi-axial Fatigue
c) Implement the fatigue data into the FEA material model
d) Make sure the software uses Von Mises stress results
e) Implement variation in the load table (total time = 1)
