Bernie Fitterer, Team Catapult, Head Smashed In Division, Canadian Region of MDI

Introduction:
Men of the MDI Canadian Region, it is with a humble commitment to service that I am
running for the position of MDI Board of Directors, to be representative for the Canadian
Region. My intention is to bring the concerns and wisdom of the men of this Region to the MDI
Board, and to also bring the direction and wisdom of the MDI Board to the men of the Canadian
Region. My desire is to connect the team level with board level so wisdom can easily be shared
within the organization. I am looking to hear and understand the concerns of all parties and use
my experiences from work, family and various leadership positions, to integrate a mutual
understanding of what is going on and support the movement of MDI in a positive direction.
To support and be of service to the men and organization, I am asking for your vote. I
am available to talk one-on-one with the individual men, Team Leaders, Division Leaders,
Regional Leaders and Board members by phone or through email. If any man, Team Leader,
Division Leader, or Regional Leader has questions or concerns about my candidacy, or
experiences feel free to contact.
Below is a general overview of some of my life experiences. Beside each major aspect of
my Bio is a link to a Google Docs page that provides greater details of those experiences that I
feel are valuable for me to execute the requirements of the position in a satisfactory method. If

Construction:
My work began in construction as a Heavy Equipment operator, then moved on to being an Estimator,
Project Manager, and Operations Manager. I have built and designed houses and performed many
renovations.
Firefighting:
I spent 22 years as a Professional Firefighter, and 3 years as Volunteer Firefighter responding to emergency
situations and providing Public Education and Media Information.
Consultant/Trainer/Coach/Presenter/Writer:
Self employed entrepreneur for over 10 year providing specialized consulting, training, coaching,
presentations, workshops and written work for companies in a variety of sectors. I have also performed as
an Operations Manager for over 5 years.

I came from humble beginnings growing up without a dad. The major male influences in my life growing up
were a neighbour, a brother-in-law and a mentor, for which I am eternally grateful. I am a brother to 3
sisters, have 3 self sufficient sons, and have 5 grandchildren. I have been honored to conduct a funeral
service for my mom and officiate at my middle son’s wedding.

I began university at 36 years old, obtained Bachelors Degree in Adult Education and Training, with a focus
on, leadership, business management, and training and development. I have a number of business, trauma
and pyscho-spiritual therapy certifications and am a continual learner.

Over the years, I have been on a number of work-related committees and have served on the Canadian
Association of Professional Speakers: Calgary Chapter Board.

Since the spring of 2011 I have been a member of MDI, completing the SMW, Point Program, and LD
weekend. I have participated in delivering an LD weekend as a Production Second and as a Training Team
Lead content deliverer. I have completed as a Team Captain and Acted for a short term as a DC for HSI.
Designed and delivered training at Rhino and a Fathering program.
Personal Experiences Challenges and Spiritual Development: (Control Click here for full Person/Spirit Bio)
I have witnessed a number of deaths both at work and personally, and faced my own death a number of
times. These experiences have served to provide me with a secular spiritual practice for over 30 years that
is incorporated into my subconscious to keep me grounded.
