CANTT PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL & GIRLS COLLEGE SIALKOT

SSC & HSSC ONLINE CLASSES SOPs

Introduction

Since the institute was closed for an indefinite period of time, the college wing decided to
arrange classes online. Due consideration was paid to the access of students to internet devices
while formulating a plan. A networking application “whatsapp” has been found to be in access of
almost every student as free or cheap data is provided by cellular networks.

Summary

From 16th March, 2020 to 30th April, 2020, the college wing conducted separate sessions for SSC
and HSSC.

Initially HSSC I & II were provided daily learning tasks with discussions and interactive
sessions. However, in April, a test plan was generated and the books were divided in three halves
to conduct revision test.

At the start of April, SSC I classes were started with teachers delivering lectures through voice
notes and assigning written tasks to students.

Students of SSC I & II who were appearing in board examination before the lockdown are also
provided guidance and motivation in their continuous preparation of the board exam.

Standard Operating Procedures for HSSC

 College Section Heads devised a test plan with Exam Cell in-charge. It included division
of book into three halves, paper pattern consisting of multiple choice questions, short
questions and long questions with 50 marks. Saturdays were also included as working
days in the date sheet. Lecturers were intimated to prepare question papers and send to
the exam cell email.
 Separate whatsapp groups for HSSC I & II were made named as Exam Cell for exam
conduction.
 At 9:45 AM, the students were requested to mark attendance and it was recorded by
Attendance in-charge. Low attendance students were called to attend the session.
 At 10 AM, exam paper was shared. Students had to complete the test in two hours and
they would send the pictures of their answer sheets in the group.
 The lecturers were given two days to mark papers and send the award list to exam cell.
 Exam cell consolidated the result and sent to section heads.
 The section heads after evaluating the result forwarded it to the principal.
Standard Operating Procedures for SSC

 Weekly two sessions are held on Monday and Wednesday from 10AM to 12 PM.
 Students mark attendance and it is recorded by the class teacher.
 Subject teachers deliver lectures via voice notes and written notes.
 Students have an interactive session by asking questions and solving exercises.
 Students are given tasks to complete during the week and it is shared through pictures in
the next class.
 Due to many students’ non-availability of mobile phones, parents have been added in the
group who show the lectures and assignments to the students.

Comments and Suggestions

The online sessions have helped continue the learning process in the lockdown despite many
hurdles. The faculty is updated with the latest sources of information technology but our students
are from diverse backgrounds. Some of whom are not having proper access to the online learning
environment which has been a major issue in producing standardized learning online. Around 60
to 70 percent of students in SSC remain absent in live sessions. Similarly HSSC I also show the
same percentage. Only HSSC II has shown much higher active percentage of around 90. Another
concern is that students can easily cheat and grab full marks in the tests. Even the highly
struggling learners have gained 100 percent results.

To ensure a stable system of online communication, the government has to play a big role by
providing free access to internet and parents should be made aware to allow students to use
internet devices for learning purposes. By ensuring the access of students to online platform, a
much better result can be produced. Parents also need to play a more active role by not allowing
their children to cheat. A grand campaign should be launched by administrative authorities to
improve the situation.
