(IT FUNDAMENTALS)
First Semester, S.Y. 2017-2018

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

In harmony with the vision and mission of the University and guided by the goals of the College, the Bachelor of Science
in Information Technology (BSIT) program aim to produce dynamic leaders who can:

a. Innovate technological concepts and ideas underpinning desires for IT solutions;


b. Administer competently the computer networks, systems development, software applications, hardware and
maintenance;
c. Design industry-based applications, infrastructures and technologies that will promote the advancement and
development of the community and
d. Demonstrate the code of conduct as well as the legal aspects of the information technology.
THE COURSE SYLLABUS

COURSE NAME IT FUNDAMENTALS

COURSE CREDITS 3 units


This course allows the students to enhance and boost their understanding in the core concepts of IT, the
COURSE DESCRIPTION underlying principles and concepts that are needed to intensify their own field of expertise.

COURSE OBJECTIVES At the end of the semester, the students can:

a. Understand the computer basics, terminologies as a core foundation of learning IT;


b. Recognize numeric data representation through conversion from one radix to another;
c. Identify career opportunities and code of ethics for ICT Professionals;
d. Categorize the components of a computer system;
e. Discuss operating system concepts, role and features;
f. Enumerate different software applications as an interactive and productive tool in computer study;
g. Understand hardware and software installation requirements and
h. Navigate the internet and use some of its features.
