Dear Prof.,

RE: RESEARCH ON ‘UNIVERSITY RESPONSES TO THE HIV AND AIDS

EPIDEMIC’ – REQUEST FOR AN INTERVIEW
I am a lecturer at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, but currently a doctoral
student at the University of London, Institute of Education. I am conducting
a research on what universities have done in response to the HIV and AIDS
epidemic in relation to staff members, the experiences learnt so far, challenges
and what is seen as the best way forward. I am requesting you to share with me
your experiences on this.
This will be done in the form of a short interview where I hope you will share
your experiences and views on this very important issue. I am kindly requesting
you to allow me to tape record the interview. The interview should last for about
30 minutes. Pseudonyms will be used for both the university and yourself and
nowhere in my report will the real names be mentioned.
Kindly let me know the most convenient place and time when we can talk
without being interrupted. I will follow up with a telephone call to your office to
confirm when we can have this interview. In case you would like to contact me,
my telephone contacts are 0722-329420 or 4440184 or e-mail nyokabikamau2@
yahoo.co.uk. Your time will be truly appreciated. Thanking you in advance

Yours truly,

Nyokabi Kamau
