1.

What factors do you think make some organizations ineffective at managing

emotions?

Actually there are lots of factors that make organizations ineffective at managing emotions. One
of those is the difference of human's way of thinking or the difference of how human responds to
some situations. We all know that every human has his/her own feelings or emotions because we
all are different from each other, there may be some people who are good at managing situations
and there are people who tend not to be able to respond accordingly to the situation. The other
factor is the difference of cultural background, others may be sensitive to this kind of stuffs and
others may not. Due to this matter, the organization face difficulties in handling or managing
emotions. It is really hard for an organization to have employees from different backgrounds.
And also one thing that make organizations ineffective at handling emotions is that they can't
relate to their employees and there's these times that they're not considering the difference of
employees, they tend to focus more on what they think is the right thing to do, they are not being
sensitive enough to other employees so they just yell and getting angry at employees whenever
they do wrong, and the result is the employees are being uncomfortable at the same time the fear
is there everytime they do their work.

2. Do you think the strategic use and display of emotions serve to protect
employees, or does covering your true emotions at work lead to more problems
than it solves?

When it comes to work, we have to manage or cover our emotions to be able to work properly
and to get things done accurately. But covering your emotions 'always' is not a good thing, this
will just lead to more problems or uneffective output. The feeling of hiding your true emotions
whenever you are working is stressing, you'll just end up getting frustrated after or during work
that may lead to an unpleasant result. And this will also result to a person being not motivated
anymore to work. Depression may also arise when covering emotions, due to the feeling of being
controlled and due to being unable to express your inner emotions. This could bring a negative
output to an organization that will lead to a bigger problem. Strategic use and display of
emotions is better than covering emotions because this will help employees to work
appropriately without the feeling of being suffocated or controlled. This will help them to
express their emotions freely and because of that, they tend to work more properly because they
are being true to their self when working.
3. Recall, have you ever encountered a class where emotions were used as part of
teaching style? Describe the advantages and disadvantages of this approach in
your experience.

Yes, of course. We have already encountered a class where emotions were used to clearly
defined the course of the subject and also were used as for entertainment purposes. Likewise, the
jokes, the comedy wherein the teacher/professor shows laugh in order to lighten the mood
especially during the timid times. Also, sometimes when the students tend to be too aggressive or
too much to handle, the teacher will show his/her mad reaction towards the person or to the
whole class. By showing that emotion, the teacher can uplift his self as a superior and be entitled
to respect. The advantage of this is that, the emotion can be an effective way to communicate to
one another. Without emotion, there can be no opinion nor expression. The disadvantage of
using emotion as a teaching style is that, it can be too much and the both parties will no longer
have the ability to understand the foremost of each other or it can create an awkward atmosphere
(based on experience).

4. Research shows that acts of co-workers (37 percent) and management (22
percent) cause more negative emotions for employees than do acts of customers
(7 percent). 130 What can Laura’s company do to change its emotional climate?

Being an employee sometimes means being a friend to the co-workers which is a critical
building blocks of the company for an effective workplace. There are workplaces where the
people are more toxic rather than the work itself and we have read some article that majority of
the percent of employee resigning is due to toxicity of the people inside the company. Laura,
being an employee, must never shows that she is offended by the way her co-workers treat her.
Being an employee means being professionally integrated. The reason for working is not to
simulate a fight nor a misunderstanding against the other people nor the management. What she
can do to change the company’s emotional climate is to uplift her self confidence and shows that
professionalism will always prevail.
