Academic Advising
Regardless of where students are in their academic career, it is important for them to take time
to reflect on their intended program of study at Quincy College. If undecided, students should
think about which program(s) they would be interested in pursuing, or consider General
Studies, which covers a variety of areas in the Liberal Arts.
It is important to share information with students about all academic programs and to direct
them to this information on the website: https://quincycollege.edu/academics/areas-of-study/
In the future, you should plan to schedule a meeting with Academic Advising to discuss
program requirements and coursework for your intended program of study. More information
about Academic Advising at Quincy College can be found here:

Journal Prompts: Instructors may choose to use the following questions to guide their students’
journal reflections surrounding their academic plans:
Educational Plan Reflection: In collaboration with Academic Advising resources, you will begin
to map out your upcoming semesters and anticipated coursework at Quincy College. This will
include the courses that you plan to take during the Summer and Fall 2020 semesters. This
should be a realistic overview of the coursework that is needed in order to complete your
remaining degree requirements. Students are encouraged to consult the QC Portal and their
degree audit.
Students must submit a one-page reflection on Canvas following the completion of their
academic plan. This reflection will be about the academic planning process. The one-page
reflection should address the following questions:
Have you met with an Academic Advisor or your faculty advisor this semester?
If so, describe your meeting. What went well? What was challenging?
If not, do you plan to meet with an advisor? Why or why not?
What questions do you have about the academic planning process?
Do you know what classes you still need to take?
What surprised you about the academic planning process?
Did you find this Academic Advising visit helpful in FYS? How do you feel about the
academic planning tool?
Anything else you would like to share about your academic plans and goals at Quincy
College.
Please be reminded that the Educational Plan document can also be found in this section in
Canvas.
