ASSIGNMENT Air Pollution Issues (Causes, Effects
Evaluation : 10%
1 and Solution)

Problem Statement

Air pollution has become as the world’s largest environmental health threats, accordingly to the
various studies which demonstrated the associations in between the exposure of air pollution
with the respiratory and cardiovascular disease. For instance, the activities of forest fires from
the “slash and burn” farming method had contributed to the transboundary haze issues in
Southeast Asia. In general, the seasonal transboundary haze arises from combustion-
associated smoke emissions, which comprise high concentrations of particulate matter fine
enough to be carried airborne. Majority of the particles in the haze are less than 2.5 microns’
meter (PM2.5) and can easily be suspended in wind currents for long periods of time. This
conditions also sufficiently small to penetrate deep in the human respiratory system and
contribute to worsening the asthma problems and other related symptoms.

Tasks Required

Select ONE (1) of air pollution issue that occurred in the ASEAN countries. Evaluate the causes
of air pollution, type of pollutants and the effects of pollution for that particular area. Justify the
solution that had been taken by the government to solve the air pollution issue.

The submission must be in less than 5 pages with the 1.5 spacing. Student should provide
details citation and references for the report.
