PCCL Cement Course

The objective is to develop a presentable professional cement course holding the name of PCCL
and enables PCCL to produce professional training services to other companies in the group as
well as undergraduates and trainees.

There are two usual approaches to construct a complete cement course:

1. Activity approach:
This approach handles the cement industry learning through the series of activities
occurring in the cement production cycle.
This approach is adopted in the courses of FLS, Lafarge and ASEC.
2. Equipment Approach:
This approach handles the cement industry learning through the series of equipment used
in the cement production cycle.
This approach is adopted by Holcim and Polysius.

Our Approach:

To develop a complete cement course adaptable to different classes of audiences (cement

professionals, new comers and undergraduates) a mixed approach need to be followed.

Based on the above the following is the proposed Table Of Contents for PCCL course:

Section One: “Introduction to Cement Industry”

• Quarrying
• Raw Materials
• Unit Operations & Equipment:
o Size Reduction.
o Burning.
o Mixing.
o Dedusting.
• Fuels
• Environmental Impacts

Initial data available to construct this course are:

• FLS Automation Course

• Polysius Cement Course
• Holcim Cement Course
• Asec Cement Course
• Blue Circle Process Course
• A wide variety of Cement and Technical book library

Proposed mechanism of developing this course is nominating a team from the plant of diversified
technical backgrounds and specialties to compile the course materials and presentations.
