Dear Selection Committee,

For several years I traveled the world with the Young Americans and discovered
a love for teaching that I did not know existed. During that time, I decided to
become a teacher so I could instill hope and inspire good in those who were not
aware of the potential inside of them. To those children, I wanted to offer
guidance, encouragement, and a positive relationship. That, I believe, is the key
to my educational philosophy. I want to build strong relationships that allow
children to soar academically, emotionally, and socially.

As a Student Assistant and Student Teacher, during the Graduate Teacher

Certification program through Grand Valley State University, I was able to
strengthen these beliefs while I worked in a kindergarten class. I gradually took
over responsibilities from planning to organizing and implementing lessons,
ideas, songs, and activities for the 20+ students. I saw the way my students
connected with different activities and this further sparked my creativity to
make sure the lessons I designed tapped into their interests. I watched children
achieve and learn new things and turn their knowledge into content
mastery. On top of the pride I had in the student's learning, I was even more
grateful to see their growth emotionally and socially. The students truly stepped
into themselves, who they are and what they could achieve. I loved supporting
them by being their cheerleader and teacher.

I would very much like to discuss the available opportunity at your school. I
bring an energetic, inspired, and relationship driven approach to the classroom.
I work diligently to help students reach their academic, emotional, and social
potential. Please contact me with questions or to let me know if I can offer
provide any further information.

Thank you,

Mary Lehmann
