Create 2 questions complete with answer scheme.

1. Justify two methods with the explanation of using a tachometer in the electrical system audit
and investigation. (10 marks)

i) By touch
- Run the motor
- Touch the rotating shaft section with contact equipment
- Make sure the contactors on the rotating equipment are the same as the motor shaft
- Get readings after 10 - 20 seconds in the exact unit
- Press HOLD on the panel for the correct reading.

ii) Through photo (sensor)

- Mark the shaft section (rotating) with reflective tape
- Run the motor
- Point the photo section to the rotating reflective tape
- Get readings after 10 - 20 seconds in the exact unit
- Press HOLD on the panel for the correct reading
2. Indicate 5 parts of multimeter components and function of each part. (10 marks)

i) Reading scale
- Shows the scale reading to be measured which measurement voltage direct current,
alternating current voltage, current and resistance.

ii) Range selector button

- Range selector button is a button where to choose the desired unit of measure.

iii) Point of needle

- Demonstrate the value of units measured or quantified.

iv) Measuring terminals

- On a multimeter there are 2 outputs, both positive and negative terminals, which will
be connected to the circuit or the component to be measured using a test probe.

v) Adjuster 0 ohm
- It is a button that allows adjustments to be made to get the correct reading and the
pointer needles to be in position 0 before any measurement is performed. This 0 position
means 0 on the right side of the reading scale. This 0 ohm adjustment must be performed
each time the ohmmeter range in the selector range is changed.
