The Tudors were a Welsh-English family that ruled England and

Wales from 1485 to 1603, starting with the first monarch King Henry
VII (1457–1509). The Tudors ruled for 118 years and Tudor England
saw two of the strongest monarchs ever to sit on the English throne:
King Henry VIII and his daughter Queen Elizabeth I.
 Henry VII(1485–1509) was the founder of the House of Tudor.
Became King of England by defeating King Richard III at the
Battle of Bosworth Field, the culmination of the Wars of the
Roses. Henry engaged in a number of administrative, economic
and diplomatic initiatives. He paid very close attention to detail
and, instead of spending lavishly, concentrated on raising new
revenues.His new taxes were unpopular.
 Henry VIII: 1509–1547
He was the second Tudor monarch, succeeding his father Henry
VII. Henry is best known for his six marriages. Henry is also
known for his radical changes to the English Constitution:
expanded royal power, used charges of treason and heresy to
quell dissent and those accused were often executed. Henry's
contemporaries considered him an attractive, educated, and
accomplished king.

The Battle of Bosworth Field(2 years of

battle)
- was the last significant battle of the Wars of the Roses, the
civil war between the Houses of Lancaster and York that
extended across England in the latter half of the 15th century.
The battle was won by the Lancastrians. Their leader Henry
Tudor, became the first English monarch of the Tudor dynasty
by his victory and subsequent marriage to a Yorkist princess.
His opponent Richard III was killed during the battle.
Battle of Stoke Field
- Took place on 16 June 1487.
The last battle of the Wars of the Roses.
The two sides met at East Stoke, Nottinghamshire, on 16th June
1487. The Yorkists were commanded by the Earl of Lincoln and Lord
Lovell. The Royal army was commanded by the Earl of Oxford,
Jasper Tudor the Duke of Bedford and King Henry VII.
The Royalists were able to chase down many of the rebel
army(germans) and killed around 4000 of them either in battle or as
they fled. Around 1000 of the Royal army had been killed.

Society
Tudors society was steeped in the medieval tradition in England.
During the Tudor period people were grouped in a hierarchical
system with the King at the top. The nearer to the top of the system
you were, the richer you were. If you were born poor there was
little chance of you becoming rich. People were taught by the
church that their position in life was determined by God. However,
it was through the church that some men who were born poor
managed to become very rich and powerful indeed.
