Cross-curricular connections
This lesson plan created by the teacher will help students work on their locomotor skills as well as their listening and following
direction skills.

Literacy/Academic Vocabulary
The teacher will have students write out the words, jump, leap, and land which are some key words that will be used during
today’s lesson. Students will write the words and definitions that are given by the teacher. This will give students a brief
understanding on what they will learn today.

Questions for higher order thinking and assessment

What is the difference between leaping and jumping? What is the proper way to land after a jump?

Assessment/Evaluation

Informal: The activity under the instruction part of the lesson plan will be used as a participation grade, therefore students will be
graded on participating in the activity and their willingness to try to learn the skills that are being taught even if it gets difficult at
times.

Formal: the guided and independent section of the lesson plan will be used for the Formal Assessment,
students will be graded on the participation, ability to perform the skills decently, and their ability to
listen and follow directions.

Materials
Paper, pencils, students.

Bell Ringer/Anticipatory Set

As soon as students enter the gymnasium the teacher will have students jog for 30 seconds then the teacher will blow the whistle
and the teacher will have students skip for 30 seconds. The teacher will blow the whistle and have the students gallop for 30
seconds, then the teacher will blow the whistle and the teacher will tell the students to slide for 30 seconds. After that the teacher
will blow the whistle and the students will stop what they are doing and listen for further instruction.

Instruction
The teacher will explain what the main lesson focus of today’s lesson plan will be. With that being said the teacher will explain
with words how the students will learn to jump off two feet and land on two feet properly. After the teacher finishes explaining the
description of jumping, the teacher will demonstrate the movement three times for all student to get a good visual representation
on the skill that is being learned. Then the teacher will walk around the perimeter of the gym why analyzing the students giving
good and positive feedback on those doing it correctly and helping the students one on one or in a small group for the children
who have not quit got the hang of it yet.

Guided and Independent Practice

For this part of the lesson plan we will do a transitioning activity very similar to the game Simon says. This activity will consist of
some skills the students have already learned along with some skills they learned today. This will allow the teacher to see how
well the students can transition from one motion to another; this will also allow the teacher to see how well the students listening
skill are and how their listening skill have developed for the betterment of each child.

Closure
The teacher will tell the all the students to get in their own space on the gym floor. Once all the student is in their own space the
teacher will call every students name and have them perform a skill to clarify the understand what they have been learning or
what they learned that day.

Differentiation
The teacher can meet with such students that are having a hard time with which ever skills they are having a hard time perform
and the teacher will do their best to explain and demonstrate in different way until the student come to an understanding.
