The Window

a poem about Love and Death

Yesterday, my life crumbled down

and I felt as though death
was knocking at my door
as my sweetheart
left me
and left my heart shattered into pieces.

I went to sleep
feeling lonely and sad
as the love of
my life
disappeared
and I’d been left alone.

I woke up,
I was unusually tired.
The window looked upon me.
It shone the rays of the sun
upon me,
Though it was the middle of the night.

I went back to sleep,

didn’t mind a thing.
I don’t know what I was thinking,
but the hour I woke,
and the sun’d come up,
the window was shining no more.

The window was dark,

but I thought nothing of it.
Although outside ‘twas shiny and bright,
inside, the darkness
set a sad tone,
and it’d turned freezing cold when I’d returned home.

I’d returned home

it’d turned dark outside
and the window was deeply
dark this time,
the house’d been abandoned
and I was utterly alone

The window finally

caught my eye
and I suspiciously looked through,
and through the window I saw
a familiar face
who dragged me into the darkness to die.
