Tool Offsets

Custom Settings 1, 2 and 3 on turning tool definition pages are used to control the tool offsets. CS#1 is the offset
for turning at B0 and all tilted work. CS#2 is the offset for turning at B90 on the main spindle. CS#3 is the offset
for turning at B90 on the sub spindle. CS#4 is the offset for turning at B180. Error messages will be output if the
offset is left at zero.

Custom Settings 1, 2 and 3 on milling tool definition pages are used to control the tool offsets. CS#1 is the offset
for milling at B0 and all tilted work. CS#2 is the offset for milling at B90. CS#3 is the offset for milling at B180.
Error messages will be output if the offset is left at zero.

M68/M681/M682/M682

By default, drills used for SolidTurn Drilling operatons output M68 for the main spindle and M682 for the sub
spindle. Turning tools also output M68 if the tool is cutting in an orientation that matches the tool change
orientation. If a turning tool cuts in an orientation that requires rotation of the tool spindle axis, M682 is output
by default. If you desire a different tool spindle axis rotation for any turning tool or turning drill, enter 68, 681,
682 or 683 for custom setting 5 on the tool definition page.

C/E Axis Clamping

Custom Setting 1 on milling operations is used to control if the C/E axis is clamped. Clamping the C axis is very
slow on this machine, so it should only be clamped when needed. Enter 78 to issue M78 clamp the main spindle
C axis or enter 701 to issue an M70 to clamp the sub spindle E axis.

Fine Tuning Eject Position

Custom Settings 1 & 2 on the SolidTurn Release cycle are used to adjust the A position for the release from the
sub spindle. CS#1 is the initial A approach point. CS#2 is the A position for part eject. If these values are left at
zero, A-16.5in and A-17in (or their metric equivalents) are used for the default approach and eject positions.

Using G31 Torque Skip Function

Custom Setting 1 on the SolidTurn Pickup cycle is used to control whether or not the torque skip G31 funciton is
used during part pickup. If CS#1 = 31, G31 is output, otherwise the A axis simply moves to position without
torque sensing.

Positioning Sub Spindle A Axis

To position the sub spindle A axis for machining, create the operation in ESPRIT and then select it on the Project
Manager. In the Property Browser you should see a Collinear Axis area where both the Z and A axes are shown
as Free. Type in the desired A position next to A in the Key column. This value must be entered relative to the
sub spindle Z home position defined on the machine setup. For instance, if the sub spindle Z home is 27in and
you want to machine at A-3.9in, you must enter 23.1 (27-3.9) for the A position. If you leave both A and Z Free,
the post will use the DefaultAPosition defined in EX_MACHINESETUP in the post processor.
