Lentil soup with sausages: Linseneintopf
Ingredients:
3 onions
One bundle of soup greens/vegetables
500 gr. (1 lb.) potatoes
1 kilogram (2.2 lb) ham bone
(Schinkenknochen)
400 gr. smoked bacon in one piece
500 gr. (1 lb.) lentils with peel
10 black pepper corns
3-4 bay leaves
3-4 branches of parsley
Salt, pepper, sugar, Maggi seasoning (Maggi is
a liquid seasoning found in all German stores
in the soup and gravy aisle)
Sausages (Wiener Würstchen)

Instructions:
Peel onions and finely chop. Clean the soup
greens/vegetables and chop. Peel the potatoes
and cut into squares. Wash the ham bone. Add
all the ingredients in a large pot; keeping the
sausages and three branches of parsley for later.
Add three liters of water and bring to a quick
boil before turning the heat down. Let the soup
simmer for three hours, stir occasionally. Chop
the leftover parsley branches and add to the
soup. Add salt and pepper, as well as Maggi
seasoning to taste. Heat sausages in hot water,
drain and add to the soup.

is open daily from 2-10 p.m. Entrance fee for
adults is €8. Tickets for children and retirees
are slightly less.
