Good Morning,

The honorable judges and all of my friends.

It is my great pleasure and honor to standing here…………….
Ladies and gentleman,
Language is the way to communicate, to give an idea, messages, opinions and
feelings to others using either spoken or written. The language can be said to be
the identity of nations. Identity that differences one country with another, and
person belonging to one state or to one nation. For example, when communicate
with strangers they can easily guess you are Indonesian people because the
language that you use, which is Indonesian language. From there we can see that
language is the identity of a society in a country.
Since October 28, 1928 Indonesian language has been established as a united
language that stated in one of the Sumpah Pemuda text. The diversity of
languages from diverse ethnicities, groups, races, is the Indonesian national
identity and then united with Indonesian Language, as the national language that
used in the whole side of Indonesia. Awareness of loving and using Indonesian is
an essential part of national identity and integrity, and of course we must
maintain and defend it.
But, what happens now is just the opposite. Even become a threat to the
language itself. The variety of not standardized or slang, which of course will
disturb or even damage the rules of the use of Indonesian language that is good
and right. A lot of using the foreign terms in daily life, even the pride of speaking
in Indonesian is not yet inveterate in every Indonesian people. There are still
many people who feel more proud when speaking in foreign languages rather
than in Indonesian, their assuming that foreign languages are higher than
Indonesian.
Foreign languages are necessary, because entering this era of globalization
foreign languages are used as liaison languages with foreigners. This current of
globalization cannot be avoided, even if there are nations that avoid globalization,
they will be left behind by other nations. However, do not let globalization
obscure our national identity. Instead we must maintain that identity.
Like Friedrich Schiller said: "Language is a mirror of a nation." The awareness of
loving and being proud to use Indonesian must be instilled in ourselves as well as
in others. We must always be aware that local languages are important,
Indonesian is mandatory, and foreign languages are necessary. As the nation's
next generation, we must maintain and preserve what is the national identity of
this beloved country of Indonesia.
