Row 7: P1, 8 st RC, P2, 8 st RC, P1
Row 8: P1, K8, P2, K8, P1

Each repeat should measure 1”

How To

**I have pretty petite hands but it is a fairly generic size and stretchy yarn so should fit any size**

Cast on 40 stitches and divide as follows:

Needle 1 = 20 stitches
Needle 2 = 10 stitches
Needle 3 = 10 stitches

**Needle 1 will be your backhand where the cable pattern is worked across**

Join together and be careful not to twist stitches

Knit a K2P2 ribbing for 4 rows (should measure 1/2”)
Work the backhand of mitten in cable pattern as described above; purl across needles 2 and 3 (palm
side of mittens equals 21 stitches) for a nice garter stitch
Work 3 repeats of the cable pattern; your mitten should now measure 3 ½ from cast on edge to needle

Right Hand Mitt

Work Row 1 of cable pattern

On Needle 2 work as follows: P3, slip 5 stitches to stitch holder, cast on 5 using backwards loop
method, P2
Purl as normal across third needle
Starting with Row 2 continue in cable pattern across the backhand
Continue in garter stitch across the palms
After finishing 2 repeats of the cable pattern, your mitten should now measure 5 1/2”
Cast off, cut yarn and weave in ends with darning needle

RH Thumb

Transfer 5 stitches from needle holder to needle

Pick up 5 stitches across thumb (you may end up picking up 7 across which is okay)
Being careful not to twist stitches, join for working in the round
Purl 4 rows evenly
Cast off, cut yarn and weave in loose ends with darning needle

Left Hand Mitt

Knit backhand of mitten the same as for right hand

Needle 2, purl across
Needle 3: P2, slip 5 stitches to stitch holder, cast on 5 stitches using backwards loop method, P3
Starting with Row 2 continue in cable pattern across the backhand
Continue in garter stitch across the palms
After finishing 2 repeats of the cable pattern, your mitten should now measure 5 1/2”
Cast off, cut yarn and weave in ends with darning needle.
