A RESOLUTION
SUPPORTING THE ADOLESCENT HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OF
THE MUNICIPALITY OF PILAR

WHEREAS, the Local Government of XX (“Local Government”) is committed to

“protect and promote the right to health of the people” through the Municipal Health Office
(“Health Office”) as mandated by all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited
to Article II, Section 15 the 1987 Philippine Constitution; Book I, Title I, Chapter II, Sections
16-17 of Republic Act No. 7160 as amended, otherwise known as the Local Government Code
of 1991 (“Code”); Book I, Title V of the same Code; and Book III, Title V, Article VIII of the
Code;

WHEREAS, the Local Government recognizes the need to appropriately address the
nutritional needs of its constituents, as embodied in the Millennium Development Goals and the
National Objectives for Health 2010-2016;

WHEREAS, national laws have been enacted to promote the nutritional needs of
Filipinos, such as, but not limited to, Republic Act No. 8172, otherwise known as An Act for Salt
Iodization Nationwide (ASIN), and Republic Act No. 8976, otherwise known as The Food
Fortification Law 2000; and

WHEREAS, effective prevention and control measures for these diseases are known and
are currently being implemented by the Municipal Health Office, with assistance from the
Department of Health.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Municipal Council of the Local

Government of XX that the Nutrition and Food Fortification Program of the Municipal Health
Office is herby supported.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that appropriations for the Nutrition and Food

Fortification Program shall be made a line item in the budget of the Municipal Health Office in
the next fiscal year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Municipal Health Office, with assistance from
the Municipal Legal Office and Municipal Licensing Office, shall ensure that all establishments
selling food products within this Municipality are complying with the provisions of relevant
laws.
