The document proposes rebuilding and redesigning the network at the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) based on findings from a feasibility study. The study found that IPA has no local area network, the existing server room does not meet IT standards, cabling is not properly aligned, existing network devices are unmanageable, there is no network security, and no network documentation. The proposed solution is to 1) rebuild and redesign IPA's network and infrastructure by creating separate LAN and WAN networks, 2) use manageable and heavy-duty networking devices to filter traffic and provide good management and security, and 3) install security devices to protect data integrity, availability and confidentiality.

FEASIBILITY STUDY The feasibility study conducted by the team to the institute of public Administration (IPA) have come out with the following findings: 1. There is no local Area network installed to the institute and therefore puts the institute in threat of data leakage and makes it difficult to accommodate the server 2. The proposed server room do not comply with IT standards for server room due to the following technical facts The room located beside the institutes male staff toilets results threat to availability of the server The window located in the server room will endanger the server since in rainy period there’s the threat of water penetrating to the room 3. The cabling and the network infrastructure are not properly aligned makes it difficult to accommodate the server 4. The network devices existed are not manageable makes it difficult to monitor the network 5. There’s no security on our existing network 6. There’s no documentation on topology and configuration of the existing network make it difficulty to trace the root of the problem SOLUTION Based on technical findings observed during the feasibility study, the team comes out with the following solutions: 1. Network rebuilding and redesigning The Institute of Public Administration (IPA) need to rebuild and redesign its network and its infrastructure due to the feasibility study conducted so as to enhance the environment to accommodate the institutes server. The building consists of faculty and administrative offices, classrooms, library and IT labs. The administrator offices will need to be on a separate secure network due to the sensitive personal and financial information they are required to access to perform their duties. A Local Area Network (LAN) will be created for the institutes building and connect to secure Wide Area network (WAN). Since user satisfaction is the primary purpose of an IT network and the network design, creating a network that meets and exceeds the user’s expectations is the primary goal for this redesigning 2. Networking devices The existing devices are not manageable and cannot filter the network traffic therefore, we request for the network devices that are manageable and heavy duty so as to give out good management and security for our networks and the institutes communication systems and applications. 3. Security devices To ensure the security of our data we need to install security devices to our institutes compound and the proposed server room. Security devices will ensure the integrity, availability and confidentiality of our institutes systems and data.
