A guide on the immaculate
art of Landscaping.
Landscaping is a process that involves designing and
maintaining a piece of land. Landscaping includes
elements of architecture, gardening and exterior design.
A good landscape will exude creativity by manipulating a
natural space into having a unique atmosphere that is
functional and complements its surroundings as well as
the preference of the homeowners. Requiring an
extensive knowledge of artistic design and horticulture
in that specific area under the restrictions and
allowances of the climate and terrain.
Landscaping can be an intimidating endeavor to dive
into, it requires a lot of time, money and patience.
However, if you have found yourself on this page then
you have already completed the first step to the
landscaping venture: doing your research.
It can vary from basic installments to having entire
makeovers. For a general landscaping plan, you can
expect new grass, updated hardscaping (walkways,
garden edges, etc), and an installation of maybe a tree
and several plants. You can start off by planning how
you want your piece of land to look like, maybe even
sketch it out or make a mind map! Having a general idea
can be very helpful in the future as it saves time and any
panicking that might take place.
After you have what you want to see in your garden you
can start working on it. Start by seeing if you want to
keep some of the old plants (in case your plan is to
renovate) and move them into planters or pots and keep
them safe. If your plan is to start fresh you would want
to start budgeting for the new plants you want to have.
You can first start by constructing any structures you
want in your garden such as decks, sculptors,
walkways/pathways or gazebos. Choosing the color
scheme for your garden is very important as it would
need to compliment the rest of the house. Neutral
colors go well with any kind of plants or if you want you
can choose from an array of colors and create your own
custom theme. The color of the stones matter in this
case. After you are done with the main construction you
can decide if you want new grass or patch up your old
grass, as grass takes a few days to grow. Then comes the
bigger plantations such as trees like fruit bearing trees
or trees that blossom in specific seasons. Ideally having
larger and greener plants along the boundary walls can
be beneficial as they act as a protective wall and add a
nice green touch to the place and won’t leave the walls
bare and dull looking. As you will be done with the larger
plants, you might want to keep in mind the lighting
system in the garden as it will require having an
electrical circuit so you need to plan that beforehand.
The kind of lights and how many you want them and
where you will place them is something to look into. This
is important as it creates a safe environment and adds
depth and personality to your landscape. Garden Edges
are a great way to change things a little, but they involve
a lot of skill to build. You should expect a simple upgrade
that will add a natural division to your lawn. Concrete
can be a more affordable option, however the aesthetic
that stone and other natural rocks give the garden area
is incomparable. Another way to spice things are the
building of decks and gazebos, they give the people an
opportunity to sit and enjoy the landscape that they
love. They can be slightly tricky to make as a vast area is
required but they can vary in size, it all depends on the
plan you have in mind. At the end you can add outdoor
furniture and customize your space accordingly.
Landscaping can be an extensive wok that requires a lot
of motivation, doing your research and planning for the
end product is very important. Ultimately, what you
want to see in your place is what matters the most,
looking through information can be helpful but it is not
definitive. Not only is the construction important but the
aftercare is also very important and learning how to
maintain your landscape and keeping it in top conditions
will also be something you would want to look into.
