All perspective
drawing will
have a:

• Horizon Line(eye level): a

physical/visual boundary
where sky separates from
land or water. It is the actual
height of the viewer's eyes
when looking at an object,
interior scene, or an exterior
scene.
• Vanishing Point: the point at
which receding parallel lines
viewed in perspective
appear to converge.

PERSPECTIVE FROM A BIRD’S EYE VIEW
• Task: Draw a city from a birds
eye view.
• Step 1.) Draw your vanishing
point. (aka the dot)
• Step 2.) Draw the rectangles to
represent the tops of the
buildings. USE A RULER!
• Step 3.) Again, use your ruler to
draw the converging lines from
the points on the rectangles to
the VP.
• Step 4.) add details like
windows, sidewalks, people,
helicopter pads maybe a rooftop
poolJ
Some things to keep in mind…
• Perspective is challenging, even for me sometimes.
• Why should you learn it? Because it will help you improve your
drawing skills and give your artwork clarity.
• Always use a ruler! It enhances the optical illusion of perspective.

PERSPECTIVE OF A LANDSCAPE
Task: Draw a landscape
Step 1.) Draw your horizon line(this line should
not be in the center.) Use your RULER!
Step 2.) Draw your vanishing point (aka the
dot)
Step 3.) Again, use your ruler to draw the
converging lines (like your road)
Step 4.) add details like a house, mountains,
trees, cars, etc…

Tip: For example, if you have trees on the side

of the road, they will become smaller and
closer together as they go toward the VP
