Plant 1: Kaiga Nuclear Plant


Date of Visit: 09-03-2020
Kaiga Generating Station is a nuclear power generating station situated in the karwar District of
karnataka.

The plant has been in operation since March 2000 and is operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation
of India.The group reached kaiga nuclear power plant at 10.30am. There was a thorough check up at
various entry levels and the students were taken to the auditorium for brief explanation.

The group was briefed about the functioning of Kaiga plant and its inception. The
students were also briefed about the management principles and policies of kaiga Plant.

FEEDBACK:
Kaiga power plant has operated without shutdown for about 941 days . Reading theoretically is much
different than practical observation. The people working there was so good. I thank my lecturers for
taking us to kaiga power plant.

Plant 2: Varahi Under Ground Hydraulic Power Plant


Date of Visit: 10-03-2020

It was a very pleasant morning everyone was to ready to leave to varahi power plant nad reached
near the power plant by 10.30AM. They guided us to go inside and it was cool inside and we walked
around 1km inside the power plant and we saw the generators and control rooms.

An lady instructor came guided us and she showed all the place in the power plant and explained
about the working in there and about the turbines used, penstock, reservoir capacity, generators,
transformers, control panels. Then we were guided to the control rooms and we saw all the generated
power in megawatts and the frequency varying in the screens and the operation in there.

At 1.00 PM we came out of power plant .


FEEDBACK
Than explanation, varahi power plant is too large in construction. We have observed each and every
working mechanism, its parts. People working there are good and responded to every douts.
