Toyota Motor Company:

If I were the plant manager who manufactures JIT cars; its very cruicial to address the problem promptly
as the main challenge and priority and afterwards address other problems observed by the Mr. Friesen
and many other employees; steps I would take to address the seat problem is as follows:

 Since quality is the a core principle: the company should invest fast in securing alternative seat
suppliers. JIT production should not rely solely on one supplier.  Alternative suppliers should be
immediately identified and contracted.
 Rely on the current supplier for the regular/old variations and contract new supplier for the new
variations.
 Change assembly process to allow for installing all car parts except for the seat without having
to stop the line.
 Initiate a comprehensive analysis of the seat problem with managers and supervisors:
o Asessing the process flow of seat installation
o Check causes of defects and hook breaking off..etc.
o Check reliability of quality checks of supplier and inhouse check

 Evaluate and assess the ineffectiveness of the internal feedback and information management,
since different levels of staff encountred the problems and some officially reported and inquired
about solutions
