Components of Fitness

In order to truly be physically fit, it is important to be well-rounded in the different


components of fitness.

There are Five Components of Fitness:


1. Cardiorespiratory Fitness
2. Muscular Strength
3. Muscular Endurance
4. Flexibility
5. Body Composition

Part A: List four activities you can do to for each of the three component of fitness listed
below (1 point each). Put an asterisk (*) by some of your favorite activities (2 points
total).

Example:
Cardio:
1. Running
2. *Bicycling

Cardio:
1. Rollarblading*
2. Dancing*
3. Soccer
4. football

Muscular Strength:
1. Swimming*
2. Lifting*

4. pushups

Flexibility:
1. back bends
2. shoulder rolls

Part B: Answer each of the following questions in complete sentences.

1. Why do you think it is important to incorporate all of the components of fitness into
your exercise program? (3 points) It's very important to exercise every part of your
body, and do different types of exercise. It is vital to be well rounded in your exercises
in order to be generally healthy. It is also better to rest some parts of your body while
you exercise other parts

2. Body composition refers to your percentage of body fat to lean body mass. What
kinds of things can you do to improve your body composition? (3 points)
There are lots of ways to improve body composition. The main thing is to
eat regular healthy meals, and exercise a often.
