My Quarantine Diary

Monday, April 27, 2020

Today, this is the first day I write my quarantine diary. It has been about a month
now that the pandemic makes everyone have to isolate themselves, or the word
“social-distancing”. Everything is closed, malls, schools, restaurants, even barber shops. I
rarely can go out of my home and when I can go out, the few places that I’m allowed to go
are 7-11 and my new house. Well, my family’s new house is still in the construction but,
there are parts that we can stay already. So, sometimes we have to sleep there a couple of
days to look after the workers or engineers that working there.
In the quarantine, I also set some goals to myself to do so, there are things to distract
me from all the boredom. One of the goals that I still keep up with for about 3 weeks now is
to exercise at least 5 times a week. As I’m a person who feel refreshing when finished a
workout, I then set this goal. This is not only distract me, but it also make me want to take
care of myself more which lead to other things to do such as try to cook some healthy food.

Today is a bit boring. Just study since morning. However, I had a great lunch and I
will push myself to exercise in the evening.

Between the day I last wrote this diary and today, there is an event that's change one
of my perspective on how I understand life. About last week, I had chance to play football
yesterday at the field at my family’s new village, as I wrote earlier that I started to move my
new house. I haven’t played football with my brother for very long time and when we have
chance to play with us like this, I then realised that everything that I think it was very usual
before seem so special. This make me know that I should be happy with every little thing
I’m able to do before the pandemic.

After I read these articles, I agree with some parts of the articles stating that it is
surely different between talking to others face to face and in front of the screen but, I
suppose it is not a terrible thing to do for me because at least I get to see my friends and talk
to them. Moreover, I would be more stressed if there are no programs like zoom and stay at
home all day. Therefore, it’s a good thing to video call with others.

Today, I feel a bit slow and sleepy because I watched a documentary on Netflix too
long and I cannot stop watching it until 1am. However, This documentary taught me quite a
lot of new things I didn’t know about the history between the 80s and 90s. It is called The
Last Dance which is simply Michael Jordan’s documentary on the last period of his
basketball career. There are 10 episodes of it and I’m currently at the 7th episode. Since the
beginning, one of the main things that I learned from this is that too much reputation in
yourself actually has more negative than positive effect on you and that change my
perspective on any famous people now.
