Pumpkin Life Cycle
Objective(s) and Standards
To comprehend the life cycle of a pumpkin and recognize what they are,
how can be used and what they have.
Idaho Content Standards – Science.

Anticipatory Set
I will start the lesson by showing them a pumpkin and asking them what
comes to their minds when they see a pumpkin. I will explain them that
we will learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin, how can be used and
what they have.

Direct Instruction
1. I will use powerpoint to explain what pumpkins are, how we use
them and what they have.
2. Through the music we will learn about the life cycle of pumpkins.
3. Then I will use the whiteboard to review the stages of the life cycle
using visual aids and magnets.

Guided Practice
The class will create an accordion book identifying a pumpkin life cycle
stages. Students will cut, paste and color the images in order to create
the book.

Closure/ Check for Understanding


We will review verbally the life cycle stages of pumpkins.

Required Materials/ Equipment

 Powerpoint
 Visual aids
 Magnets and dry erase marker
 Sheet with accordion book
 Scissors
 Crayons
 Glue sticks
