Hello Children!

Summer week 4

I hope you are OK. I am missing singing and dancing with you.

Here are some musical activities to have fun with at home this week.

• First watch the video clip and learn a new song, it’s all about penguins!

• Next get your instrument or sound maker ready and read the
instructions below.

Playalong ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’

Instructions:
Play along with this famous piece of classical music ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ by Edvard Greig.
Before you play this game, you might like to find any percussion instruments you have at home, such as
drums, claves (rhythm sticks) or maracas. Or you could make a homemade drum out of a small plastic
bucket or box, or a shaker from putting pasta or Lego in a Tupperware box. You can just clap along or tap
your knees too.
Play this video. When the characters jump on a symbol you play your instrument at the same time!
Be careful, because the music gets faster as it goes along, so make sure you keep in time!

Did you manage to keep in time to the music when it got faster and faster?

How did the music make you feel?

I hope you enjoyed your music lesson,

Best wishes from

Mrs. Alston
