LESSON PLAN IN 21st CENTURY LITERATURE FROM THE PHILIPPINES AND THE WORLD

I. OBJECTIVE
Content Standard:
The learner will be able to understand and appreciate the elements and contexts of
21st century Philippine literature from the regions.
Performance Standard:
The learner will be able to demonstrate understanding and appreciation of 21st
Century Philippine literature from the regions through:
1. a written close analysis and critical interpretation of a literary text in terms of form
and theme, with a description of its context derived from research; and
2. an adaptation of a text into other creative forms using multimedia.
Learning Competency:

Specific Objectives:
1. Identify the different genre of literature
2. Recite a poem written by our national hero Jose Rizal entitled “Mi Ultimo Adios”

Give the Functions and Nature of Literature
 Motivation
Activity:
1. Group the learners into four.
2. Each group will be provided 2 samples of poetry. They will then be asked
to read and identify all the rhyming words used in the poem.

B. Developmental Activities

 Activity
Instruction:
1. Each group will be asked to recite a poem Mi Ultimo Adios written by Jose
Rizal.
2. Each group will analyze the poem and after that they will answer some
questions about the poem.
 Analysis
1. Why did Jose Rizal write it in Spanish and not in his native language?
2. What is the poem all about?
3. What is the mood of the poem?
4. What is the philosophy of life expressed in the poem?
5. What feeling has the poem created in you? Is it touching, for example?

 Abstraction
 Video Presentation: The teacher will play video presentation of the lesson.
 Discussion of the Topic: What is Poetry?

 At the end of discussion, the students will be asked about their learnings
on the discussion.

 Application
The teacher will ask the students to create a poem about love of country.
