STORAGE AREA NETWORK

A storage area network (SAN) or storage network is a computer network which provide access to
consolidated, block level data storage, SANs are primarily used to enhance accessibility of storage
devices, such as disk arrays and tape libraries to serves so that the devices appear to the operating
system as locally attached devices, A SAN typically is a dedicated network of storage devices not
accessible through the local area network (LAN) by other devices, thereby preventing interference of
LAN traffic in data transfer

COMPUTER NETWORK
A Computer network is a digital telecommunication network which allows nodes to share resource in
computer networks, computing devices exchange data with each other using connection (data link)
between nodes, these data link are established over cable media such as wires or optic cables, or
wireless media such as WiFi

Network computer devices that originate route and terminate the data are called network nodes, nodes
are generally identified by network addresses, and can include hosts such as a personal computers,
phone and server, as well as networking hardware such as router and switches, two such devices can be
said to be network together when one device is able exchange information with the other device,
whether or not they have a direct connection with others in most case application-specific
communication protocols. This formidable collection of information technology requires skilled network
management to keep it all running reliably

WIDE AREA NET WORK

A wide area network (WAN) as a telecommunications network or computer network that extends over
a large geographical distance/place. Wide area networks are often established with leased
telecommunication circuits.

Business, education and government entities use wide area networks to relay data to staff student,
clients, buyers, and suppliers from various locations across the world. In essence, this mode of
telecommunication allows a business to effectively carry out its daily function regardless of location. The
internet may be considered a WAN
CAMPUS AREA NETWORK (CAN)
A campus area network, campus area network, corporate area network or CAN is a computer network
made up of an interconnection of local area networks (LANs) within limited geographical area. The
networking equipment (switches, router) and transmission media (optical fiber, copper plant, Cat5
cabling etc.) are almost entirely owned by the campus tenant / owner: an enterprise, university,
government etc.

METROPOLITAN ARE NETWORK

Metropolitan area network (MAN) is a computer network that interconnects users with computer
resources in a geographic area or region larger than that covered by even a large local area network
(LAN) but smaller than the area covered by a wide area network (WAN) the term MAN is applied to the
interconnection of networks in a city into a single large network which may then also offer efficient
connection of several local area networks in a metropolitan area through the use of point-to-point
connections between them. It has a range of 5 to 50 kilometers

PERSONAL AREA NETWORK

A personal area network (PAN) is a computer network for interconnecting devices centered on an
individual person workspace. A PAN provides data transmission amongst devices such as computers,
smart phone, tablets and personal devices themselves or for connecting to a higher level network and
the internet where one master device takes up the role as gate way. A PAN may be wireless or carried
over wired interfaces such as USB.

LOCAL AREA NETWORK

A local area network (LAN) is a computer network that interconnects computers within a limited area
such as a residence, school, laboratory, university campus or office building. By contrast, a wide area
network (WAN) not only covers a larger geographic distance, but also generally involves leased
telecommunication circuit.
