Location

The Philippines, officially known as the Republic of the Philippines is located in Asia,
specifically in the South East Asia region. It is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on the east and
the West Philippine Sea (also known as South China Sea) on the west. Situated south of Japan
and near its Southeast Asian neighbor countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia.

The national capital of the Republic of the Philippines is Manila City. It is located in the
National Capital Region (NCR) and known for numerous historical happenings of the country. A
highly- urbanized city that houses the second most number of the country’s population with 1.78
Million (based on the 2015 UNData). It is the center of industrial development of the country
and has been the principal city of the country for four centuries. Manila City is among the
Metropolitan Manila cities of the region along with Caloocan City, Quezon City, Pasay City, and
20 more.

Bisected by the well-known Pasig River, it has six administrative divisions which compose 17
districts. It houses the Malacañang palace and the presidential residence which is situated in the
district of San Miguel. The Manila North Harbor and Manila South Harbor, the main
international port entry is also located in the City of Manila. Also known as the Pearl of the
Orient, it is the financial and publishing center of the Philippines. Since it is the entry way of
other foreign countries, Manila City has been visited by almost all of the tourists of the countries
and became a place to stay to explore tourist’s attractions near the city.
