1. 3D wire frame

The 3D wire frame is used for presenting 3D dimension and improving visualization. It also can show
us viewpoint and to rotate the model in real time to show complex shape.

Surface modelling

The surface modelling is used to define outside shape by using many surface patches. It also can
provide visualization of the geometry.

Solid modelling

The solid modelling is used to generate cross section, calculate weight, centre of gravity and
moment of inertia. It also is used to create complicated part by combining simple part.

2. CAD or Computer Aided Design is used of information technology in the design process. This
software has information technology, specialised software, and peripherals.

The reason adopting CAD in an engineering organization:

a. CAD is most accurate than conventional method.

b. Easily modifiable graphical representation of the product.

c. Engineer can view the design of actual product.

2. a. Conceptional design

i. Define problem

The activities in this step are problem statement, benchmarking, quality function
deployment, product design specification, project planning.

ii. Gather information

The activities in this step are get information from internet and get idea from consultant or
journal.

iii. Concept Generation

The processes are brainstorming, functional models and morphological chart.

iv. Evaluation of concepts

We will use decision making, Pugh chart and selection criteria to done this step.
