SENBAZURU: THOUSAND CRANES PROJECT


2nd Performance Test in Arts 8 (Public Exhibition)

SUBMISSION OF THE FINISHED SENBAZURU:


OCTOBER 1 (WED) – SAG, JOTC, GTG & STA
OCTOBER 2 (Thurs) - SCB

PUBLIC EXHIBITION SCHEDULE:


October 6 - 17, 2014 @ SAS Grounds

NATURE OF THE ACTIVITY:


 This will be a CLASS PERFORMANCE activity. Each members of the class MUST
participate to the making of this production.
 This will be a PUBLIC INSTALLATION ART EXHIBITON at the St. Andrew’s School
Grounds.

MECHANICS:
 EACH MEMBERS OF THE CLASS must fold at least 24-25 Orizuru (folded cranes)
pieces (this is already ongoing).
 AS A CLASS, you are going to make those cranes into a SENBAZURU (thousand
cranes) installation art.
 You are only to use your folded paper cranes to create your Senbazuru installation art.
 Creative process is left to you my dear students on how you will create your installation
art.
 RESTRICTIONS: Your Senbazuru MUST NOT BE HANGED. It should be standing
like an ordinary sculpture.

Why Senbazuru?
 The Senbazuru is considered as the Japanese National Symbol of Peace; October is
considered to be as the United Nations month – a manifestation of world peace to
different nations of the world.

INSPIRATION OF THE SENBAZURU:


 Each class must come up with their ‘PEACE WISH.’ Your senbazuru must portray or
symbolize your chosen ‘peace wish’ from the cranes you folded during your individual
outputs.
*example of a ‘peace wish’: World Peace
