From the smash-hit album Brothers In Arms, this rockabilly-style Dire S traits
song or igin a l l y featured organ and several guitars, but translates wel l to
strumming on a single guitar.

The frets on a guitar get n a rrowe r as you m ove up the neck, so it can
be hard to place your fingers at the right frets for the chords when you
have a capo right up at the 7th fret, such as for this song. I would
recommend starting without the capo to learn the chords, and then play
along with the recording when you can play without stopping for chord
changes and you're ready for a challenge.

Each verse has four bars of strumming on an A chord-we didn't have
to write it out all four times, did we?

There are parts of this song where it sounds best to play just one big
strum and let it ri n g out. When you do this it is very important th at
you keep your foot tap pi n g or count out loud so you keep the tempo
,

steady. If you don't have something to keep the timing even, you will
most likely come in too early with the next chord. For the rest of the
song you can play four down-strums per chord for now; later, add the
rock 'n' roll shuffle (shown in BC-183) when you reach Stage 8.
